It's not just on the books; he is referred to that way in most articles, also. I tried to research it but came up with nothing, only the usual biographies and book reviews, etc. No one seems compelled to explain about his surname. And now I am equally perplexed by the fact that I don't know how to locate this information.

When someone writes a recipe and says "be sure to use a good quality chocolate (semi-sweet chips)/vanilla flavoring/cheddar cheese," what do they consider to be good quality, and how are we supposed to know that?
