I have a mountain bike, but I bike on the road and think it's kinda slow because people with road bikes smoke the hell out of me. I really want a road bike, but they aren't built to have saddlebags, especially not with 30+ pounds of books on them. I want speed, but strength. Could a Cyclocross bike be used as a type of hybrid bike? I know they're generally used for mud racing and stuff, but could they be used as a cross between a road and mountain bike? I'm interested in getting a Cannondale. An answer along with a recommendation would be really appreciated
