I know a few things about everything and many things about something. Theatre, Writing, People, and School (up to a point) are my specialties. I will usually answer your questions to the extent of my knowledge and as respectfully as possible, but if I seem to pick on you, don't worry. I do that to everyone, even friends and family. I'm a natural-born editor and director too. Plus, I'm a youngish teenager, so don't be afraid to ask me! But don't ignore me either- I'm not immature. If I ask a question, it usually can't be found easily on the Internet, so be prepared. I do my own research and pull off of my experiences. Good luck in what you wish and have fun! Email me with stories- I loooove reading others' work! For some examples of my stuff, visit my DeviantArt, www.deviantart.com/directortechiereia :)
Comedic/dramatic monologue reviews?
Well, I've got an audition coming up. We don't know anything about the play, we're just required to have a one-minute comedic monologue. Linked are two videos where I perform a total of 5 monologues, two comedic in one and three dramatic in the other. Please read the information box on the videos BEFORE you comment. Those are the things I am looking for constructive criticism in and those only. Nothing about appearance, unless you're just suggesting overall auditioning appearance. This audition is more casual, but we are required to look somewhat nice. I cannot wear my more guyish/comfortable things, for example. Like cargo shorts. Anyway, just overall things like that are perhaps ok.
Thank you!

Dramatic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EK9rJmLun0
I would like you to comment on the actual videos first, then place that response in here to answer it for points. However, if you do not have a YouTube account, on here alone is fine. Just make sure that it addresses what I asked.
3 AnswersTheater & Acting1 decade agoSuggestions for a monologue?
For the theatre camp (Tal's Camp) I will be attending this summer, a monologue of any sort EXCEPT classical or from the plays to be performed (see list) of up to 1:30 in length is required for the initial audition and for auditions afterwards. I've been relying on the same monologue since last year's camp for everything there and since and it's time to retire it. It doesn't even really suit me.
Description:
I am a 15-year-old female, 5'4'', hourglass, long brown hair that can be anything from ringlets to straight (naturally), square face, pale and unblemished skin and large green eyes. Recent English immigrants on my father's side and recent full-blood Cherokee ancestors on both side make up my appearances, the Cherokee more so than the English. Can wear glasses (frames, brown) for reading.
Background:
Tough and lonely childhood of racial discrimination, G/T programs, real Southern woman in all aspects and history, been working with kids as a teacher/volunteer/mentor since I was young, currently volunteer every Sunday in Sunday School with a class of 1st graders since they were in Kinder.
Personality:
Very tough, somewhat introverted, rarely cry or come close, heart of gold, high moral values, fiery, apathetic, intelligent, mature, hardworking, very independent, friendly, loyal, self-guided in pretty much everything, all wrapped around an incredibly stubborn core that comes out in pretty much anything. Top this all with mood swings that are almost literally druggie in style! (Go from high and on-top-of-the-word to dead asleep in about five minutes)
To wrap it up: I'm a director who can do everything from act every role and all the tech. Actually, I probably could.
Talents:
Dance, art (all types), writing, acting (of course), and a strong sense of techie.
Past roles/monologues:
Various- skits in school for core subjects
The angry and protagonist roles- Church, youth group
Captain Kirk- Star Trek, the Corbomite Manuver (school class, film)
Storyteller- Othello, or, Chasing the Green-Eyed Monster
Witch- [The Scottish play by Shakespeare] (a kid's version)
Goose- Charlotte's Web the Musical
George, the staff watcher- The Memorandum
Nessarose/backstage chorus- Wicked, a kids' version
The only sound tech- Harvey
Penny- Musical revue, Hairspray skit
Dancer- Musical revue, Legally Blonde's "Bend and Snap" dance
Backstage crew- Musical revue
Ms. F.D. Moorehead- I Remember Mama
Mrs. Pringle- Monologue, "Fourteen"
From these descriptions and past roles, I ask that you provide suggestions for a monologue. Thank you.
2 AnswersTheater & Acting1 decade agoWhat is a monologue for Scaramouche from the musical "We Will Rock You"?
I love Queen and I now love this musical. Scaramouche pretty much fits me perfectly and thus I am searching for a monologue for her. I'm having trouble finding one online, so I ask you and I hope that you will help :)
Thanks!
1 AnswerTheater & Acting1 decade agoHow should I wear my hair?
Today we have our winter formal. It is a rich school (however I am not) at a multimillion dollar country club (the tickets were only $20!). My dress is not easy to find online, but it is a floor-length deep blue beauty. Not very wide, but not incredibly skinny. Underneath the bust is a strand of (fake) jewels and from here comes an overlay of the cheaper version of a see-throughish fabric. The top is shirred with this. It is a thin spaghetti strap.
My hair is naturally wavy and comes to about the middle of my bust, or a little under halfway down my back. When brushed it is soft with slight waves and when straightened it comes to right under my bust, so where the jewel line is on my dress. It can form into slight ringlets and curls if I leave it alone long enough however.
Final description: My jaw is square. I have very beautiful natural dark eyebrows that are not too big nor little. My eyelashes are long and dark over big green eyes and I have full and cupid's bow lips. Also, I have a warm-fair (very fair) skin tone and high cheekbones (that's my Cherokee blood!).
I would much prefer to keep as much of my hair down as possible because that's how I roll. If you have any suggestions as to hair (and perhaps makeup?) please do tell.
Thank you!

4 AnswersOther - Beauty & Style1 decade agoHow does one act like a Sorority girl?
For a musical review, I am dancing to the song "Bend and Snap!" from Legally Blonde: The Musical, and we are told to have character. I am not a naturally preppy, sorority, whatever girl, so I'm not too sure how to do this. I have an idea, if I don't get a good answer, but I would much prefer some insight. I don't dare ask my schoolmates (and I don't pay attention much) even if they do act as such. Thank you!
Also: for the same musical review, I am Penny from Hairspray (the musical version) so some insight on her would be much appreciated!
4 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoHow is a PPSAT score of 1910 for a high school freshman?
My district (in Texas) requires all high school freshmen to take the Practice PSAT. We just got our scores back and altogether I scored a 1910.
Writing: 750
Math: 580 (multiple-choice and gridded answer)
Reading: 610
This is out of 2400 points, by the way. I'm just wondering how this ranks and if I should keep aiming to get higher and higher (perhaps by actually studying next time?) LISD also requires all sophomores to take the PSAT and then juniors and seniors can take the SAT. I'm extremely happy with this, as we did take a junior-level SAT, but I'm just wondering how this ranks against juniors and seniors in high school. My research online shows very little, but it was provided that the average score of a LISD junior is just over 1500. Also, how does this rank against other states and districts? Thank you!
