motorcycle nut who has loved motorcycles since she was old enough to be sat on one. Went to school to be a motorcycle mechanic right out of high school and graduated 5th in my class of 38 men and 1 woman(me). Nothing brings more joy to me than to take a none running, non working motorcycle that has sat unused for years and bring it back to life. It is like giving a soul back to a lifeless creature and saying "go, run, do well my child". Don't bother to tell me that bikes are by their nature soulless machines-I would not believe you!

  • Want to ride a motorcycle in New Zealand and Australia,?

How difficult is it to rent a bike in those countries? what are the road conditions like away from the major cities? Also how available is gas out in the boonies? Any months better than others -like do you have rainy months and dry months. I am born and raised in the U.S. and have only seen these countries on TV shows, but the scenery looks wonderful and spectacular and I want to start planning a few years out for throwing myself a great 60th birthday, and thought that a nice 26 hour plane ride followed by a week of riding in those 2 countries would be great. Suggestions?

  • Receipe for making sandwich sweet peppers?

Where I use to live-in the north, you could go to any store or sandwich shop and get sweet peppers on a sandwich. Down South they do not even know what you are talking about.

I need a receipe to make my own. I know you start with Italian belle peppers in various stages of ripeness-some green, some yellow, some red, slice and dice them and put them in a liquid marinade and then bottle bath the jars to preserve it.

What I need is a good receipe for the marinade for the liquid. I believe it has a vinegar in it and some form of sweetner-what type of vinegar -regular or apple cider? What form of sweetner-sugar, corn syrup, honey? And how much? Is there anything else like salt, or other ingredients?

    Many thanks

  • Dog with a leg wound?

My 7 month old beagle/coon hound mix dog came home today with a small, we are talking very small but bleeding leg wound. the size of the puncture is abut 1mm or an eighth of an inch. She is obviously in some discomfort because she is refusing to put weight on the hind leg. The wound is near the "knee" joint. The thing that concerns me most is that there is a 1" "Knot" on the opposite side of the leg at the same area as the small puncture. I have no idea what she got herself caught on, as she was playing with another dog and had disappeared out of view.

My questions are: what can I do for the dog-who is an outside dog with a strong constitution, but has never had a wound before?

What should cause the most concern, the small puncture that was bloody but seemed to be rather inconsequential or the bigger "knot" on the opposite side of the leg.

I do not believe the dog was shot. because the wound is too small for even a bb pellet and I never heard anything go off-where I live is very quiet country setting. it is much more likely to be a wound from barbed wire then anything else, but I really do not know.

  • Have you folks seen the new Vega V-Tune helmet?

Bluetooth integrated, flip down sun visor, DOT rated, comes in a variety of standard colors. The Bluetooth stuff is built in and the system operates on built in rechargeable batteries with 8 hours of use life and up to 48 hours standby use, between charges.

I don't have the price yet, but looks promising. This helmet was designed by Vego after they asked actual riders what features they would like to have in a full face helmet.

colors are red, white, black, dark blue, and some others I forget mostly dark shades.

  • Murray 38" cut riding mower?

Having trouble with my riding mower. The darn thing won't spin the starter. I have tested the starter solenoid and its good, checked the cable coming from the battery to the solenoid and the cable from the solenoid to the starter motor All are good. I have bypassed the safety switches first one at a time and then all of them and still no go. I can spin the starter if I hook a remote starter button up to the solenoid, but within seconds the wires on the remote become VERY Burning hot. I am thinking maybe bad ground but yet see no wires on the solenoid to ground it and have looked at other mowers and there is no ground cable. Battery is new and tests fine.

  • Ladybugs? How do you get rid of them?

Where I live the state releases ladybugs and poisonous snakes from helicopters several times a year. The snakes to control rodent and small game populations, and the lady bugs to eat aphids on evergreens. The problem is that the ones MY state releases are apparently "retarded". They land by the 10's of thousands on my (and all my neighbors white houses). They attack humans and domestic pets-I and my dog have the bite welts to prove it. And on top of all of it if they can find a way into your home, they will nest in old timber in the house, re emerging into the heated dwelling in the winter where the indoor assault takes place. It is pretty bad when you can't even sit in your own easy chair without getting bitten or lay in bed without one of these pest landing and biting.

Yes these are lady bugs-these are an orange instead of usual red- and I do not want to use chemical pesticides as I have indoor cats who will probably play with or eat the hundreds of carcuses that a bug spray would produce. Anybody have any other suggestions?

  • I am planting a persimmon tree-what special needs do they have?

My soil is well drained and is rocky and usually dry. When my plants come-I ordered a couple of apple, apricot, peach, mulberry and the persimmon tree- what do I need to do with the soil? The ground where they will be going is currently field/tall grass. Does the persimmon need 2 planted to produce fruit-I only ordered 1 native american persimmon. I want to know if they need acid or neutral soil (Ph? level) and will fertilizer tabs thrown in the hole when I plant help or hurt the plant?

    Thanks

  • Training for house and field a Blue Tick Coonhound?

I want to train my 5 month old puppy. I want it to behave in the house, BUT also be free spirited enough to be used as a hunting dog. These dogs are VERY intelligent and headstrong, so regular training does not work well with these dogs. I have found a few, very few, webbased sites that are specific to the breed, but most are hunting only type sites and do not speak about house breaking, teaching it not to chase the 3 cats I have etc. One website went as far as to say keep the dog outside in a kennel with other dogs only, cause if it escapes it will kill cats, squirrels, rats, mice and anything else it can get to. One other site said that this breed can not be broken for chasing other domestic animals and to exercise extreme caution at all times, never allowing the dog and other domestics to mix.

I feel that any dog SHOULD be able to be trained and "reprogrammed" to not chase certain critters but maybe that is asking too much of this breed. I also want the dog to be trained to be used as a hunting dog, and to retreive any downed fowl, or other critters I decide to hunt.

  • How much would a Chevy 283 small block cost and will it fit in a 2000 s-10 automatic?

If it can be adapted, then what would be needed, yeah I know I have all the pollution devices on the truck, but lucky for me we have no state inspection on vehicles here, so that would be no problem to rip and gut that stuff.

  • So what about the Honda Fury?

I just saw the website for the new Honda Fury. To me it looks like they basically took the Shadows engine, exhaust, front forks, handlebars and put them on a stretched frame and dressed it up with some semi designer wheels and a wide back tire.

I am gonna imagine that this will be a bike much like the Rune. Never meant to sell a bizzillion, taking bits and pieces off of other proven bikes and dressing it out with some newer ideas.

I gotta say I do like the speedo, but hate not having a tach on a bike. The wheels are okay, the tank looks small, but then again this type bike is not meant to get you to your next vacation destination, it is meant to go short distance and be seen on it.

What do you think www.furyisunleashed.com should be the link

    What do you folks think?

  • Why did GM stop making the S-10 pickup?

Why did GM fail us by not making anymore small fuel efficient trucks? I might have to consider-heaven forbid the dare I say it, F##D Ranger, since Gm does not seem to offer any small size pickups anymore.

  • How do you measure how deep a water well is?

I have to replace the pipe in my water well. I know that we pulled out about 40 feet of pipe with the jet on the end broke off and fell into the well. My question is-How do I measure the depth of the well and know where to set the new jet on the end of the new pipes. I dropped a plastic clothes line with a rock attached to it down and seem to have plenty of water -over 20 feet the line was wet from the rock up the clothes line, but how do I know where to set the jet?
