  • I'm just trying to transfer home videos from camera to computer and confused?!?

I recently bought a Canon DVC ZR85, and I love it (we have a 4 month old daughter). I also have a Compaq Presario CQ50-139WM. The manual for my camera said that I needed to purchase a IEEE-1394 4-6 pin cable to transfer the videos to my laptop to burn to a DVD. So, I went and bought this cable. It doesn't fit in my computer. I'm really not understanding this as no one else seems to have this problem when I read the reviews for the cable. What do I need to do? I only have standard USB slots, and I am so computer illiterate that it is not even funny. Please someone out there tell me that there is this magical adapter that I can just plug the cable into and then plug the adapter into my USB port and where to find it?! If not, then please tell me what I need to do. Thanks so much!

(Use simple terms since I am VERY new to this)!

  • I need help fast! I think my daughter has a yeast infection...and she is miserable!?

Does anyone know of a good OTC yeast or antifungal cream that can be used for infants? Of course, this would show up on a holiday weekend. We also live in a very rural area and all the pharmacies are closed. Please help!

  • How long should I avoid a virus...?

I live about 2 hours away from my family, but we are moving back home in the next few weeks. We are remodeling the house next to my parents. Instead of traveling 4 hours everyday, we were just planning to spend the night with parents for the next week or so while we put in new floors and paint. However, EVERYONE has had a horrible virus. My mom and dad is over it for about a week now, and she has sanitized and aired out the house, but I am just wondering how long I should wait (or when its safe) for me and my 9 week old baby to go. How long to viruses live?

  • Hey Moms...opinions about Baby Einstein DVD's?

I received a monetary gift from an out-of-state friend, and wanted to buy something the baby will enjoy (not necessarily needs). So, I started looking at DVD's and music and such, and I came across the Baby Einstein DVD collection. I was just wondering if they are worth the money. Do you like/dislike them and why?

    Thanks!

  • Nasty diaper rash for a few days now, but nothing helps...?

My little girl has had a nasty diaper rash for a few days, and nothing I do seems to make it better. I have tried Desitin paste, Vaseline, and baby neosporin. Every time I change her diaper, I take her to the sink and rinse her butt. I'm just at a loss. What else can I try? She has one really bad blister, and I can tell it is bothering her.

    Thanks!

  • What are these bumps on my baby's face?

My little girl will be 4 weeks on Thurs, and she has these little red bumps across her cheeks. Some days it clears up, and she will only have one or two. Other days her cheeks are full of them. One older lady told me that they were "milk bumps" and would go away after a couple of weeks, but I have waited and they are still there. Should I be worried, or is it normal?

    Thanks!

  • Anyone have their C-Sec incision re-open after going home?

    Hi!

I had my little girl by emergency C-Sec on Jan 14th after failure to progress in labor. Apparently, the doctor had to make a larger than usual cut due to her size, and my cut was closed with staples. I had the staples removed in his office the following Friday. Over the weekend, my incision started to bleed so my husband looked at it, and it had actually opened about 1 1/2 - 2 inches. So, I went back to the doctor, and he is having us clean the inside of the wound with sterile q-tips and peroxide, but I am still bleeding from the cut...like bad. He said he didn't want to close it back up so that it would be sure to heal from the inside out.

So, I was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else. And if so, how long did it take you to recover? I would really like to be the one taking care of my baby (but I can't since I am in bed 24/7).

(I asked this question in the Newborn section, but didn't get very many answers. I know that there are alot of 2nd time mommies in this section...thanks!)

  • Anyone hear about the controversial commercial on abortion on Super Sunday?

I was reading a few headlines (trying to get back in touch with things after giving birth to my little love 2 weeks ago). Anyways, I came across this article, and I found it very interesting. Apparently, Tim Tebow and Focus on the Family have purchased a 30 sec slot to promote families as Tebow's mom was advised to abort him due to an illness, and she decided against it. He went on to win the Heisman in 2007. Every liberal, feminist, and equality group is raising cain over these 30 secs and really pushing for CBS not to air it.

I was just wondering what everyone thought about it...

  • What snacks did you bring to the hospital for after labor?

I could have my little one any day now (38w4d), and I am going to the store tomorrow to get a few things to bring with us to the hospital, so my husband doesn't have to fight traffic to go to the store. The only things I can think of is fruit, bottled water, juice boxes, and triscuit crackers....lol

    Any suggestions?

  • What is the deal?!? I am 38 weeks and....?

my baby has not dropped...at all. I have not dilated at all, and she is in my ribs instead of birthing position. I went about 2 weeks ago to have a cerclage taken out, and my RN asked me where they normally find her heartbeat after searching for about 10 minutes. When I showed her (like 6 inches under by right breast), she found it right away. Then she said that babies that high are usually in the breach position. So I have been consciously been being aware of where I feel her move, and it is almost always above my navel. I am 5'11", so I have a long torso, but shouldn't be getting ready to make her arrival?

    Thanks for the help!

  • Soon to be mommies...?

Do any of you just go sit in your nursery and wonder what it will be like once your little one comes? I find myself wandering into her room and sitting in my rocker recliner more and more. I am 37w4d and am just so ready to meet her. Am I being weird, or do you ladies do that to?

  • Hey moms...any ideas for pictures before, in, and after delivery....?

Well, it is getting close. Any day now really. I was making a list of the pictures I want my mom/sisters to take and realized that I only have like 10 poses. I am a scrapbooker and would really like to dedicate a whole scrapbook for the "hospital experience". So, I am turning to my fellow YA moms for ideas and suggestions! Anything would be greatly appreciated. I would definitely rather have a picture and end up not using it for her scrapbook than really wish that I would have gotten a pic not have it!

    Thanks in advance!

Oh BTW...my hospital is in full support of cameras throughout the process :)

  • Anyone watch "The Business of Being Born"?

I watched this documentary produced by Rikki Lake on a recommendation. I was just wondering if anyone else watched it, and what you thought about it. I'm kind of having mixed feelings.
