  • Cat has little bumps?

My cat has little bumps all over her throat. They are tiny, dry and stiff like scabs, not soft or moist like a pimple or wound. They may be slowly spreading. I haven t noticed her scratching more than usual so I don t think they itch. Her diet hasn t changed and she is on an all natural raw food diet. Also, I have 2 other cats without the bumps and also on the same diet. She doesn t wear a collar so there is no irritation there. Anybody have any ideas what it may be of if I should be concerned?

  • How do I hand a platter on the wall?

I have a beautiful ceramic platter that I use often. I would love to hang it on the wall rather than keep it in the cabinet because it is so lovely to look at but I want to be able to use it on occasion. Is there way to hang a heavy platter in such a way that I could easily take it down when I want to use it?

  • How much light over a kitchen island?

My new kitchen island will be installed in about 2 weeks. Neither the stove nor the sink will be installed in the island. The pendant lights I picked out to go over it are very pretty but only 3 inches wide and I'm buying three. They take 60 watt bulbs The island is will be 4 ft. long. Will that be sufficient lighting? I'm 56 years old and never remodeled a kitchen before. I want really good lighting

  • How do I put color on a drab blanket?

I have several old army blankets, 100% wool. They are so cozy to snuggle under and I love them so much I've decided to make a poncho out of one. However, they are drab army green in color and I would like to somehow add some nice color but not sure of the best way. I don't own a sewing machine so if I do any sewing it will all be by hand which is fine as long as it's not a whole lot. I've thought about fabric paint, gluing bright fabric on with fabric glue and embroidery. I'm just not sure of the best way to handle wool. I'm not a skilled seamstress, crafter, artist, etc. I'm just a self-proclaimed DIYer who can follow directions really well.

    Thanks for any help.

  • What snacks and appetizers would do well outdoors for several hours?

I'm having a party and I want to put out a several snack tables to encourage people to mingle outdoors as well as in. The party is during the day, 12 noon - 4:00pm so I can't put out stuff that will spoil due to sun. I have only a couple of ice chests. What are some good snacks and appetizers to put outside on a warm day?

  • What's the best way to add color to the concrete stepping stones I'm going to make?

I'm going to make some concrete stepping stones and would love to add some color. Not much, just some to make it a little interesting. What's the best way? Add paint to the wet concrete? Stain after they are dry? Stain or paint while it's wet? I love the look of stained concrete. I also love the faux marbled look.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

  • What rose should I plant?

I would love to plant roses alongside the front of my house that faces north east. It gets nice morning sun for a short time. I would like a rose that is very fragrant as it will be very near the front door and I think it would be lovely to enjoy the aroma when coming and going. I have never tried to grow roses and not much of a gardener but I would like to try.

  • What color should the mantle be?

I bought a really cool (but simple) fireplace mantle at a resale shop to put in my new/old home which I recently bought and am refurbishing. Should I stain it the same color as the floor (pecan), paint it the same color as the walls (warm neutral sandy color), the same color as the front door (cobalt blue) the same color as the trim in the living room (bright semi-gloss white) or something else entirely? My home decor is Mexican. Help me please I am not a decorator, I am not creative and I have no vision.

  • What collor should I paint my hallway?

My hallway is narrow and 8 - 10 feet in length. The main living areas are painted a warm neutral sand color with bright white trim. The two bedrooms at the end of the hall both have an accent wall of very bold colors but the rest of the walls are the same warm neutral sandy color. those accent walls are facing the hallway. My home is decorated in a Mexican style with touches of orange, cobalt blue, terra cotta and other bold colors throughout the decor. I was going to paint the hallway the same warm sand as the rest of the house but I heard halls should be a different experience. I'm not a decorator and need all the help I can get.

  • pork meat or something else?

The grocery store sells a package of "pork seasonings" in the meat section which looks like small chunks of pork. Does anyone know what this is specifically? Is it mostly meat (maybe like beef stew meat only pork) or is it mostly fat for flavoring things like beans? Or maybe something else altogether (like parts of stomach, organs, etc.) I don't want to buy it if it isn't a part of the pig I wouldn't use on anything.
