Is it bad to run a laptop at 100% CPU for 18 hours or more?
I'm rendering some things in blender, and my CPU is at 90-100% (actually 125-175%, because I got Ubuntu several days ago and apparently it can run 2 CPU's)
I've read that it is okay so long as it doesn't overheat, and I've place it so it cool enough. Though I don't know.
5 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks8 years agoAre melting icebergs bad for the world?
Icebergs, not glaciers.
They don't raise the sea level, and they'll add more fresh water to the oceans, and might cool it down.
The first thing won't affect anything.
The latter two might kill animals and change climate, but would it be that bad?
5 AnswersGlobal Warming8 years agousing ipod as keyboard?
So, I’d like to use my ipod as a keyboard for my computer. But I don’t want it to be wifi or anything, I want it to send it over the cord, like I just connect it like my normal keyboard and it instantly recognizes it

Why are president's smart?
(Not the current doofus; Bush is an idiot; yeah I've heard them, but you'll say them anyway)
But Clinton went to Oxford, Bush went to Yale and Harvard, Obama went to Harvard.
I know that we shouldn't have an uneducated person as president, but the presidency seems like it just depends on what the president thinks.
The Supreme Court is their to say the constitution, and they have advisors to talk economy.
It just doesn't seem like you would need to be much more educated than any of the hundreds of thousands of people that know a bit about government.

1 AnswerYouTube9 years agoAre women worse at math?
I'm not trying to be sexist, but are women less interested or even worse at math than men?
When I look up topics or see it in the news, I tend to see men and women being biologists, doctors, physicists, engineers ect.
But when I see and read about the people that contribute to math and computer science, it looks like their are more men. A lot more men.
Now, computer science is, I believe, because nerds playing video games want to program, but is their some reason why I don't see very many women in math?

2 AnswersYouTube9 years agoWhy was the plane so low?
My friends said that at around 7:20 today they saw the plane carrying the space shuttle fly over, along with some fighter jets.
They also said it was only 2000 ft up.
So I was just wondering why the plane was so low.
Was it to show off the shuttle, or maybe to keep it closer to the ground for some reason.
I think it took off from Ellington field, and I don't think I'm too close ( I live in Katy, just west of Houston)
6 AnswersAstronomy & Space9 years agoHow secure is voting?
Ive never voted before as I am only 17, but I was wondering what happens when you vote? Moreover, how secure is it?
I was thinking of the controversial voter id proposal.
If you don't need an id, would it be easy to commit fraud. Could I just walk into a voter booth and tell them I'm one of my neighbors, and I know their phone numbers and addresses if that helps.
Or to make it more feasible, one of my 18 year old male friends.
If it is that easy, then I believe we need id's to vote.
But it can't be that easy, so if it is so secure that only a hundred or so cases of fraud are committed, then we definitely don't need id's to vote.
But how secure is it?
6 AnswersElections9 years agoWhat do you think of Romney?
In all seriousness, what do you think of Romney.
If Romney was voted in, how do you think he will do?
I know that we don't know how good or bad he will be, but we know how he was when he was a governor, and some of his plans and views.
I know that many on this forum put on a facade of a narrow minded liberal/conservative, and thus strictly defend or oppose him, but what do you think of him.
I know a strict democrat, who opposes everything republican, but she said that she thought Romney might have good plans.
But what are your views?
16 AnswersPolitics9 years agoWhat is literature used for?
I know that calculus and other math is used in physics and engineering and other science/math jobs.
History is good for politics and other things, but I think it should be taught just because it needs to be taught.
But I was wondering why are we taught literature in school?
I know that good grammar and essay writing skills are necessary for any job, but why do they have us write essays on the theme of a book, or the use of a metaphor.
I know that we won't need to find the integral of f(x), but replace that with the side of a building or a projectile, and it is useful for many jobs.
So in what jobs will we use literature?
If it's only to write books, shouldn't it be an elective.
1 AnswerBooks & Authors9 years agoWho would you let die?
You are visiting an old mine.
Let's say that there are two parallel railroad tracks or mine cart tracks.
Your spouse and three beautiful children are walking on one, and your brother, his wife and two children are on the other.
You took a moment to check out what the switch room looked like.
All at once, two large carts come rolling on either side of the track, they make little sound and you have no way of alerting your family.
In front of you is a switch that will throw one into a wall and the other to the opposite track, or throw the other onto the opposite track and into the wall.
All in all, you have three choices, let both parties die, or let one of them die.
What if your brother had more or less kids.
What if it was your parents, and/or your spouse's parents.
Sorry for the long setup, I just had to make sure there was no alerting the victims, putting the switch in the middle to try to stop the train, or letting fate deside.

Is there a difference between a talent and being good at something?
I'm good with calculators and knowledgable of their programming.
I can write "hello world" to the screen in basic, c, nrgblib, and nSDL.
I can draw a few lines and pictures, and if I put my mind to it, I might be able to program a game.
But mostly I just find myself using what talented people have made, namely the c compiler, nRGBlib compiler and nSDL compiler.
Also I use the gba emulator and image viewer.
However, I would never be able to program any groundbreaking work for a calculator, like a compiler or other thing.
So it would seem weird to say
"we all have talents, you're talented at art, I talented at programming calculators"
"oh you are? What have you done?"
"um, nothing, but I know how others do what they do"
So is there a difference between having a talent and being good at something?

Does this sound like a good way to get rich fast?
First, get a time machine.
Second, buy a calculator at the dollar store.
Then go back in time to the sixties and sell the calculator for $30.
Buy an ounce of gold for$30.
Come back to 2012 and sell gold for $1000.
Buy 1000 calculators, sell and buy 1000 ounces of gold.
Sell for $1000000.
Buy sell, buy sell.
I'll have a billion dollars.
