Did the expression "Close, but no cigar" originate with Bill Clinton when Hillary lost the Democratic primary?
The primary being the Presidential Primary Election. What significance would the cigar have? I don't think Hillary smokes them.
7 AnswersElections1 decade agoIt is my understanding that Hillary Clinton's campaign fund is $31 Million in the RED! Who picks up the tab?
Do the people who extended her credit lose out? Will the Democratic Party take care of her overexpenditure? Will Bill Clinton put the proceeds from his book toward the unpaid campaign bills Hillary ran up?
It is unlikely that Hillary's backers will take care of this expense. I think they have written her off as a bad investment.
Will the poor creditors have to write off the $31 Million as a loss?
7 AnswersCivic Participation1 decade agoWhere are the campaign speeches Obama made for Odinga in Africa in 2006? Is he a racist?
Obama seems to be related and closely associated with many racist and anti-American people.
3 AnswersElections1 decade agoWho in the Democratic Party has the authority to tell Hillary to bow out gracefully?
Her continued comments about Obama are only lessening the Democratic party's chances of winning the election in November.

There is, to my knowledge, no other word in the English language which is pronounced similar and spelled similar to tongue.
3 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoIs the song "Loch Lomand" a funeral dirge and how does the chorus tie to the verses?
The verses sound as though the singer is mourning a lost love while the chorus sounds as though the singer is planning to meet someone new.
1 AnswerMythology & Folklore1 decade agoDoes the US Supreme Court plan to correct a bogus decision?
In 1893 a case involving Nix vs Hedden the US Supreme Court ruled that tomatoes, squash, cucumbers and egg plant were all vegetables and Hedden was entitled to collect tariff tax on them at the port of entry in New York. Fruits were exempt from income tax. Botanically and as defined in the dictionary tomatoes are fruits. The supreme court, however says that in the US they are legally vegetables. Doesn't it seem like the supreme court would want to overturn this erroneous decision of the past?
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow do you remove mildew from rubber gasket on refrigerator door?
It is a side by side refrigerator and where the doors meet there is just a small space for air to circulate. Hence the dampness causes the gasket to mildew.
4 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoWhy was FEMA ice follies not publicized more?
Approximately 85 million pounds of ice were stored at various locations, including on refrigerated trucks since Katrina until FEMA decided to pay 3.5 million to have the ice melted and the bags disposed of this month. Cost for storage was 20 million. FEMA said they were saving it for next hurricane. These figures do not include the cost of the ice. Total seems to be around 67 million.
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow much cheaper would Geico Insurance be if they didn't spend millions on advertising?
TV comercials are expensive on prime time television. I probably see Geico ads at least 20 times every evening that I watch television. They have to be tacking this cost onto the price of their existing policies.

Keep your eye upon the sparrow
And your hand upon the wheel

3 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoHow do they do tape art sculpture?
I have seen pictures of tape art figures which are life size of people and animals. They are transparent like scotch tape. It is really neat looking, but I have no idea how they do it. I keep wanting to think it must be done something like paper maiche.
1 AnswerSculpture1 decade agoBy what stretch of the imagination did the NAACP find "Song Of The South" to be racist?
It is my understanding Disney can never show it at a theater in the US again or sell the videos of it in the US. Disney also owns the patents on Joel Chandler Harris' other books and they can't be printed and sold except at the Uncle Remus Museum. What kind of censorship is this?
7 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoWhat has happened to the quality of the people in the work force?
It seems people either don't know, don't care or just can't be bothered when the customer has a problem.
Is this due to a lack of training, lack of management or is it that the people going into the work force today just don't give a rat's @ss?
I get disgusted with clerks in stores not knowing or caring if they carry an item and getting sent on wild goose chases looking for it.
I get tired of medical insurance companies refusing claims that are supposed to be paid. Oops someone must have pushed the wrong button. We will reprocess the claim.
I get sick of calling 800 customer service numbers and getting someone who has such a heavy accent of some kind that I have difficulty understanding what they are talking about.
I don't know if one of the above is the problem or if I am just becoming a cranky old f@rt.
I put this in local business category, however it is not just local it seems like it is everywhere. It should perhaps be in society and culture.

It seems to develop a few days after you open them. I am wondering if I need to throw the jar away or if I can just skim it off.
