Problem Connecting old PC to TV via HDMI?
Trying to connect an old Win7 PC to a TV in my den via HDMI.
Sounds simple.. Problem is: the PC has no HDMI port and only USB 2.0
So I got a USB to HDMI adapter. The image is terrible ( square, dim, flickering at bottom third).
Just to be sure, I connected my newer PC (which has HDMI port) and the image is great.
So .. Is there any way I will get a decent image quality on my TV from a PC with USB 2.0 ???

5 AnswersTVs4 years agoNeed Help with Well Pressure Tank Layout?
I really need help right away on the layout of this well pressure tank and switch. Once I began work to install a new shut-off valve and drain valve, I noticed the layout of this system is different than the pressure tank manufacturer illustrates ( and different than any other layout I have found online). Can anyone please tell me if this layout is acceptable?
It seems that the pressure switch may be affected because the pressure tank has just one line in. In other words, it outflows back through the pressure switch on its way to the house plumbing.

2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)7 years agoDo I need a GFCI at a swimming pool pump?
I am relocating an existing pool pump further from the garage, where is it wired from tandem 20amp breakers. So its a 240V line but with only three wires. My first question is: Do I even need GFCI protection on this line because it could be in a wet area ( next to pool pump) ?
Q2: Is the amperage on this 240V line 20 amps,, or 40 amps?
Q3: If I use an old disconnect box I have which is labelled for over 20amps, will it cause any problems?
Q4: If I do need GFCI protection here, could I wire the two hot wires, each to one 120V GFCI receptacble, and split the neutral to each GFCI receptacle. Then wire then back together to the pump?
I apologize if I use improper terminology. Electrical is my weakest trade. Please answer as if I am a 12 year old. Thanks :)
2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)9 years agoCan I use a Double 2x10 Header to Enlarge this Window to Patio Door?
I am installing a 6ft wide patio door in place of an existing window. I have uncovered an existing Double 2x10 header with a Double 2x4 top plates on top of this header. Normally, I think this would require a Double 2x12. But, can I use the existing Double top plates with a new Double 2x10 to span the new 6ft wide patio door opening ?

6 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoCan we fly either direction to Asia from USA?
I think most flights leave the USA and fly west to Asia (over Pacific Ocean) .
But do flights ever travel east over Europe to get to Asian Countries? Are some countries like Thailand closer by flying East? I would think the earth's rotation would make flying east impractical. But if you are in New York, flying to Thailand, do you still fly west over California? This has always puzzled me. What is the main determining factor ; earth rotation or distance?
14 AnswersAir Travel1 decade agoHow can I paint my rusted steel barbell weight plates after galvanizing them?
I spray painted many steel exercise weight plates. But on some, I realized that I had used a gray Galvanizing Spray Paint for the primer, which will not take the black gloss finish spray paint. The galvanizing paint says it can be re-coated with latex paints. Is there any way to spray paint the gloss black spray paint as a finish coat ( to be harder) ? How can I finish these with a hard shell finish coat?

1 AnswerDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoHVAC bathroom exhaust fan routed to return air duct?
For HVAC experts.....I have never seen this before: a bathroom ceiling exhaust fan which is routed to the return air duct in the attic. Is this a code violation? If not, is there any problem with ducting a bathroom exhaust fan into the return air duct to the furnace? Seems odd to me.
