Recently removed old carpet and pad from living and dining rooms to find beautiful hardwood floors but there is a pattern from the pad that will not wash off. Is it possible that the rubber pad removed the urethane finish at the points of contact?

I have learned to cope with this condition over about a 45 year period. There is no pain but it is not a comfortable feeling. I am resetting my heart to a normal rhythm within a few seconds and if there are others who may benefit from my experience, I am happy to share. Here,s how:

Get on knees. Sit on your heels. Now bend forward as if to touch your forehead to the floor. If you actually can, do it. Otherwise go as far as you can. Now, inhale deeply and hold your breath. Within 5 or ten seconds my heart goes "thump" once and returns to a normal rhythm. Lately I have been successful by simply inhaling deeply and holding my breath about half the time. But if not, I do the kneeling thing which always works. Will you respond to this if it has helped you?

There are random cracks all across the ceiling and walls of rooms where this paint was used, up to a quarter inch wide. It is not loose, just cracked.
