Where do I go for karaoke in PEI?
I'm headed to PEI with some friends this summer and I want to go to karaoke. Is there such a place? I'll have a car so anywhere on the island would be fine.
1 AnswerOther - Canada1 decade agoWhat's the name of this old windows game?
I'm trying to find a game I used to play on windows 3.1. It may have been 95, but it was pretty low-tech. The idea was to make words out of letters given to you and fill up boxes on the right hand side, beating the computer player to the top.
Anyone?
1 AnswerOther - Computers1 decade agoSewing a halloween costume?
I'm trying to make a hallowe'en costume like this one: http://fancydresscostumes.blogetery.com/files/2008...
but not exactly the same.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about this? Should I use a pattern? How does that work? I doubt there will be one specifically for this idea...
Thoughts?
1 AnswerHalloween1 decade agoBig cut on cat's face?
My cat got into a fight a while ago and cut his face. It would scab over, almost heal, then he'd scratch the scab off prematurely and have an open wound again. It was getting slowly smaller, but now it seems to be getting bigger and grosser. We're keeping it clean and putting polysporin on it, and have recently set him up with a homemade cone (my bf used to work at an animal hospital and knows how to make them, it's not some horrible contraption), but it's looking pretty awful.
I'd take him to the vet, but I'm not sure what they can do and I don't have the money to waste if they're just going to say 'keep it clean and here's a cone.'
It's nothing they could suture... do they bandage cat faces? His whole cheek is pretty messed up.
Any ideas? What would a vet do?
11 AnswersCats1 decade agoWhat's there to do at home?
I'm just so *bored* these days.. I don't need suggestions like 'go horseback riding' or 'learn french' or anything. I just want to have something to do while I'm just sitting at home at night when I'm sick of reading or stumbling on the net or watching tv.
3 AnswersOther - Games & Recreation1 decade agoLosing weight, but not inches?
I've been dieting and exercising since late July and have managed to take off 20lbs. I'm a healthy weight (right now, 5'10" and 146lbs), but I'm trying to look better, not just be lighter. After all this time, I don't think I've actually changed shape or lost any inches. Maybe 1/2 - 1, and my legs look a little bit leaner, but all my old pants still fit, and I'm baaaaarely a size lower when I try on pants at the store.
..what's going on? After this much time, it's clearly not an issue of water weight, and although I slack off sometimes with strength training and cardio, I've been pretty committed for the last 4 months so.. why?
Has anyone else had this problem? Usually it seems to be the other way around...
3 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoAn orange 'zested and juiced'?
I'm making a cranberry sauce and the recipe wants me to include an orange and a lemon 'zested and juiced'. Does that just mean to zest the entire peel and then squeeze all the juice out?
I don't really cook a lot... as you may have guessed...
10 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoI need some ideas for my family to do before Christmas?
I really want to have a family-filled Christmas, but even my youngest sister is pretty much an adult now. All the things we used to do in the days and weeks before Christmas are kind of kid-related.
I'd like to have them over one day to watch The Snowman and drink hot chocolate, but what else?
What are some things we can do together?
**we're not at all religions, and my parents are still super cool so anything goes**
7 AnswersChristmas1 decade agoNot Going to Doctors...?
Why are there so many questions posted about health issues where people seem very unwilling to just go to the doctor? It seems crazy!
Is it because you have to pay for it? I live in Canada, and when we're sick or we think we might be sick, or we're concerned about something, we go talk to the doctor and get it checked out.
Do people just not take things seriously? Do they hate the doctor? Are they afraid? Or can they just not afford it?
1 AnswerOther - Health1 decade agoOmaha Steaks steak-of-the month?
I'm thinking about getting my bf a few months of steak deliveries from Omaha Steaks... most of the reviews I've read online have been really positive, but I'm still not sure.
Has anyone ordered from here before? I don't care about the price, I just want to know if the steaks were actually better or worse than you expected and if you'd order again, etc.
7 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoVegetarian lunch ideas?
I need to figure out some healthy vegetarian lunches to bring to school - I've done egg salad to death, and recently I've just been bringing those cups of chili or noodles. I don't have access to a freezer, but I do have a fridge and microwave.
The key is something fast and easy to prepare, because I don't have time in the morning to do anything like roast vegetables or put together fidgety wraps. (I'm willing to do *some* work, of course, but I'd prefer it to be minimal)
Also, I'm trying to keep my lunches under 400 calories, so high-fat sandwich fillings like peanut butter are out.. I'm really scrambling for ideas!
*I do eat cheese, eggs, and milk, as well as fake-meat products
6 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoWhat are some good songs (non-lame) songs to sing around a campfire?
I'm going camping with a huge group of people and there are definitely going to be some acoustic guitars.
What are some good late-night tunes? I was searching for some, but all I could find was stuff like Kumbaya and This Land Is Our Land..
1 AnswerOther - Music1 decade agoPresent for a 7 year old girl?
My niece is turning 7 and I'm not sure what to get her. She's kind of a girly-girl, and I was thinking about art supplies but I feel like everyone does that.. plus her dad's a professional artist, so he may have that covered.
What do you think?
13 AnswersGrade-Schooler1 decade agoDoing everything right..why aren't I losing weight?
Just over a month ago I decided to lose 20lbs. I have a healthy BMI (I'm 23, 5'10", 165lbs and a lady) but I know I could look a lot better.
I read every single article on the internet about proper diet, exercise, all the things that stop you from losing like starvation mode, etc., and put it all into action.
I eat around 1200 calories a day, with a good healthy breakfast, moderate lunch and dinner mostly made up of vegetables and some protein, and I'm definitely not counting wrong. On the days when I 'fall off' the diet, I still never eat more than 1800 or 2000. I do sit at a desk all day but I have a 15 minute walk to and from work. I've also been jogging for at least 20 minutes 3 times a week.
However!
I've only lost 2lbs and I've been doing this for aaaaages! There were a couple weeks where I only got out to jog once or twice, but I was still restricting calories.
I know you're not supposed to go by the scale, but I don't think I've lost any inches either! My clothes all fit me exactly the same!
What's going on???
3 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoI've got some strange bruises....?
Yesterday I found 3 or 4 bruises in a perfect vertical line on the back of my calf just under the knee. It looked like fingerprints kind of, like battered wives might have on their arm. I don't remember getting hit there, or scraping it on anything... They seem to be for no reason at all.
Today, They're way worse. They've blended together so now it looks like a lower case i.
I wouldn't be worried, but it's 4 inches long, and looks like it came from something I definitely would have remembered.
Does anyone think it's something to be concerned about?
I'm 95% sure I didn't do anything to it.
