  • How to introduce a 1.5 year old male cat (new) to a residing 3 year old male cat?

Firstly, I know this is a bad idea.

My mother's friend owned two cats, and they live next door to these horrendous people who hated the cats. Long story short, the neighbours placed some kind of "anti-freeze" (?) by their house, and surely enough, one of the cats drank it, was poisoned, and died. Nobody else is willing to take the remaining cat, and I would hate myself if I didn't at least try and work it out, otherwise I don't know what might happen to him.

So basically, I have a 3 year old outdoor male cat, and a 2 year old indoor female cat (she loves all the cats she has met, so she wouldn't be much of a problem. We had her before the 3 year old). How can I possibly make this work out with the males, without causing King (my cat) to move out?

  • How often do you have an involuntary sleepless night?

As in, how often are you unable to fall asleep for no reason all night, not because of kids/deadlines/ill etc?

I only ask because I haven't been able to sleep tonight, can't remember the last time it happened. College will be fun.

  • Is it this a good idea, regarding a US road trip?

I'm 17, living in the UK, and I plan to (want to) in a year or two go over to the US and have a road trip. As in, Easy Rider style, except without the good storyline (shame), and I'd be on my own. I'd like to go for, say, no more than 5 days. 3 or 4 would be good. I don't have much more planned than the actual concept of just going over there and hiring a motorcycle, but I have a few questions about this, and I'd appreciate it if anyone could answer any of them at all:

    1. Is this a good idea, or am I in over my head?

    2. Would it be easy to hire a motorbike?

    3. Would it be enough just to have a license in the UK, or would I have to have had it a certain amount of time, etc?

    4. Would going down Route 66 be a good idea? I thought if I did that, I'd get halfway and then have to come back to where I started due to time restrictions, wouldn't want to be there too long.

    5. Would it get boring after a certain amount of time?

    6. Is it expensive?

    7. I don't want to go with somebody else, mainly because it'd be hard to find just one (if any) other person to come with me, and I would enjoy the solitude. Is going on my own much less safe than going with another person? I'm a -fairly- big guy at 6 foot 6, this usually keeps people from bothering me in the UK, but I'm a softy.

    8. Anything else anyone could add that would be useful?

I doubt that this would ever turn out successful, but if it is possible then I would absolutely love the experience. Perhaps it's just another fantasy for me, but who knows!

    Thanks in advance.

  • Planning a camping trip with 4 or 5 people, can somebody go through the basics with me?

Okay, so in about 5 or 6 weeks, me and my friends are going on a camping trip, and we have no idea where yet - not really a fan of going to an actual campsite, so I was thinking the Lake District or something. Suggestions are welcome - I live in Southport, England, so yeah. I don't want to end up in Australia or anything.

So far, we haven't bought anything, but we know some of the things we will buy. Well, we know what tent, sleeping bags, and also airbeds. Now, apart from this, what kind of things will we need to take? What kind of lighting equipment, what food/water, what kind of clothes to take, etc. Anything at all. We're absolutely clueless, which is why it will be amazing.

    Thank you in advance.

P.S. I was also thinking that it would be good if we were able to climb Mount Snowdon while doing this, has anybody got any information on this? E.g. are you allowed to set up a tent on the mountain, etc. If that's 'obviously' a stupid idea, forgive me, I really am clueless ;)

  • I'm feeling overly tired all the time recently?

This started about a week ago. I'm doing A-Levels, and it was at the start of half term where I had no exams that I started to feel like this. Usually, if I just let myself wake up naturally, I get about 8 and a half to 9 hours sleep, and feel okay. But now, even if I get that much I feel dreadful, no matter if I have 6, 7, 8 or 9 hours. I ended up actually having 10 hours sleep the other night, and I can never usually sleep that long.

The only difference around this time is that I haven't drank any alcohol for 2 weeks (a week before the problems), and I haven't had any exams. I also haven't been going out of the house, maybe twice in the last week. Can anybody give me any advice, or reasons why this may be happening? I'm finding it so, so hard to revise feeling like this and I have my last exam on Wednesday, and it's a biggun. All help appreciated, thank you in advance.

  • I think my neighbours neglect their dog, don't know what to do?

I'm 17 years old, live with my mum, and I'm a huge animal lover. We own 15 animals (2 budgies, 3 rats, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 2 rabbits, a giant rabbit and a gerbil) and they're all very well looked after, they all live happy lives. The people who live next door to me have a dog, I'm not sure of the breed but it's beautiful, black and medium to large sized, but a little thin. Not TOO thin though. He is nearly always tied up outside, I'm not sure what to but he used to be tied up to a loose radiator. It's pouring down outside now and he's still outside. I -think- they let him in at night, but I'm not sure. When he's not outside, frequently I see him lying down on top of a bunch of dirty boxes in their conservatory. They leave him outside with 2 bowls, which are very often turned upside down, I presume the dog gets bored. Sometimes, I try and make sure that nobody can see, and I throw him over some dog treats which he likes. Sometimes though I miss and they're just out of reach to him, and I feel awful!

The point is, I don't really know how other people treat their animals, but from my point of view this seems quite cruel. Then again, I am a pushover, often I find one of my Shih Tzu's asleep on my pillow and I end up sleeping at the end of the bed like a dog (not a very strong moment of mine). I'm scared to call up anyone about this because A) I don't know if it'll be seen as an act of cruelty because he appears to be a good weight and gets fed, and B) They will for certain know it was my family that reported them, and they're not very nice people, I'd be scared for my own animals safety, it wouldn't shock me if they tried to retaliate or get 'revenge'. Does anybody have any suggestions?

    Thank you in advance.

  • I feel depressed whenever I do something worthwile?

This is mainly academically. I'm never usually extensively happy or sad, I'm typically just contented, which is fine by me, quite mellow. In college and all through high school, I used to never revise at all, because I never needed to, always got pretty decent grades (B/A) without doing any. But recently, over the last few months, since A-levels have been coming up and I've had quite a few mock exams I've been revising a lot. Because, y'know, A-levels. But whenever I do a good solid few hours revision, then do an exam and feel pretty well about how good I've done on it, I always feel depressed afterwards, and I don't know why. It seems that every time I put effort into education, it pays off on my grades but it always makes me feel worse off.

It makes me worry, because in the future when I get a job, whenever I do something successful I'm probably going to feel the same way. If I'm not successful then I'd probably be fired, and then feel depressed. It seems like an endless loop. I'm just happy now to sit in the house all day watching TV, go out every so often with my friends, and hang out with my pets when I'm back. I'd give anything to be able to live my life like that forever. But if I carry on feeling this way whenever I achieve anything academically, I don't see how I can be happy or contented in my life.

I suppose I just wanted to have a moan rather than ask anything, sorry. If anyone knows anything about feeling this way though, then I'd appreciate any answers.

  • Agonising ear pain, how to stop it?

I woke up about an hour ago (3:20AM) with an agonising pain in my right ear, it's unbearable. It was absolutely fine when I went to bed. My ears have been becoming blocked recently so I'd been to the doctors about 3 weeks ago and they said to put a drop of olive oil down each ear, but I've been quite forgetful in doing that. I did it when I woke up though, no better.

My nose is also slightly blocked, I have a headache and feel like I'm going to be sick any minute. I have an A-level Maths exam at 1:30, in 9 hours time, and I won't be able to do it if this pain doesn't stop. What should I do? I could get an emergency doctors appointment first thing in the morning, but I just can't bear the pain, I can't get back to sleep at all.

I also sleep with headphones in, if that matters, but I've done it for years with no issues.

  • Fairly urgent revision advice for A-level?

My A-level exams start on Monday (oh God no), which I've not been revising as well as I could have for. I have been revising a fair bit though.

My Psychology teacher has told me today that I have a mock exam tomorrow lunch for 45 minutes. If you do or have done Psychology, then you'll understand my stress when I say I have to revise the 10 core studies for tomorrow. I hadn't revised any of this yet because the ACTUAL exam I have on this area is in 4 weeks time, and I have no exams or lessons for just shy of 2 weeks before that.

Anyway, I have a lotttttt of revision to do for Monday, and now I have a **** load more to do for tomorrow. I don't want to fail the mock of course, but the actual exams on Monday are far more important, and this mock is really wasting my ******* time.

Any advice on how to settle this? (this is only really relevant for the next 5 hours, after that I won't be able to revise until after the mock anyway.)

  • Question about testicles, for biologists, scientists and all men?

    I am a male myself.

People refer to their testicles as their "left ball" and their "right ball".

Is their any biological reason why they don't, like, swap around? In your sleep or something? Fo' real.

Okay, here is a way to demonstrate this so we're on the same page.

    1. Dangle some headphones in front of you. These are your testicles. It's easy to tell which is the left and right one isn't it? The left is on the left, the right is on the right.

    2. Grab the 2 actual headphones between two fingers.

    3. Twist them a few times.

    4. Presuming you weren't keeping track, it's kinda hard to tell which is which, ain't it?

    Within the scrotum, of course.

I feel to weirded out to try and twist my own balls to be honest. Can this happen? Goddamn. I mean, if it can, how can you have a favourite ball anymore? My ol' righty might have been my lefty all along.

  • How to make headings in Microsoft Word 2010?

Forgive me for being a little abstract.

But you know that "Navigation" box that comes up at the left side, where it lists headings? How do I make them? I want to put them at various different points, I'm writing a script so I want to be able to navigate from scene-to-scene easily. I have attempted making headings myself, and it appears to have worked, however in the "Navigation" box, it does not appear there. And I want it to - I know it's possible because I've used other documents that have done it already. Maybe I'm thinking of something other than headings?

  • Should I drop out of college to be an actor?

I love love love acting. I'm just finishing my first year of college, doing Philosophy, Psychology, Maths and English Language. Hate it, can't stand it. Would it be a good idea to not continue to the second year and to pursue acting? I have a group of friends whom I make short films with, and we've made one feature, they're pretty good. I don't want to go to university at all. If I did drop out of the second year, I'd take up a job to fund the films as well. I'm also on DLA, I get just shy of £100 a week which could be useful for filming. Anyway yeah, is it a good idea to drop out?

  • What age do budgies begin to fly at?

I have an 11 week budgie who I've had 2 days; he cannot fly. At all. If he tries to hop from perch to perch, he just falls with his wings fluttering, which is a distance of roughly 3 feet. When he lands on the floor, sometimes one of his wings will be poking out at a weird angle, but then he moves and it's back to normal. This is a real concern because I have 2 cats, and because he is unable to fly he climbs on the bars of the aviary a lot, making him an easy target for the cats. I keep them shut out of the room the majority of the time though.

My other budgie has been going to the vets quite a bit recently, she injured herself quite badly (no idea how) and we've had to spend a lot of money on her, calling out a vet in the middle of the night, buying medication etc. so I really don't want to take him to the vets unless it's necessary, for money reasons. If it's better that I do take him to the vets, I will though. I want the best for him of course.

(Yahoo is suggesting I put this in the "Travel > Air" category. Lol.)

  • Diagnosed with mild scoliosis, what should I do?

Normally I like to lie down on my side, but rest on my arm so my spine is tilted; I'm guessing I should stop doing this?

What other things should I do differently? Walk less? More? I have no idea what to do differently but it seems silly to do nothing.

  • Introducing budgies to each other...?

I had 2 budgies, one of them had been ill for a while, and he died 24 days ago. To start of with, Dixie (the budgie) seemed quite happy/content, but recently she has started to become quieter, she doesn't play with her toys as much and she's fluffed up quite often. I figured this was because she was lonely or depressed, so I thought that maybe on Saturday I would get another budgie to keep her company (I know how to do this properly, done it before). Now though, I've been thinking that I might get 2 more budgies to keep her company.

I have the room to do this (her aviary is big enough for 3), but would it be a good idea? I'd love to do it, but I think maybe the 2 I get might gang up on Dixie, because they would have known each other before hand. Or, is there any other way of going about the situation?

  • Itchy lumps on legs, neck, and have a rash. No idea why.?

Went to bed last night, noticed a lump on my inner thigh, itchy as hell. Went to bed, woke up at some point (no idea when), around ten lumps spread out, a few on my ankles (around where the top of the sock is), then between there and my upper leg. Both legs. I also have one on my neck, where there is a rash too. I have one on my *** too, but lets not talk about that.

I had eczema when I was around 5 but it hasn't bothered me since then, and I'm 17 now. Any thoughts/ideas? I live in England and have Cats, Budgies, Guinea pigs, Dogs, Rats, Rabbits, Gerbils and a Giant Rabbit, but I've had them years and had no allergic reactions to any, no symptoms of any kind or whatever.

  • My joints crack/feel like they need cracking ALL the time.?

Mainly in my ankles, I constantly have that feeling that they need to be cracked (sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology, but you get the gist), and they do crack so very easily. It's like an obsession I guess, and they can crack very loud. Other culprits are my wrists (I've noticed also that these and my ankles always need cracking in the clockwise direction, can't crack anti clockwise), my neck, my fingers/knuckles, my knees which crack loudly whenever I kneel down, my back (although not often), and most recently the left side of my jaw, which is now extremely painful from being cracked, but I can't help it, it just feels like it needs cracking all the time, it's making me extremely stressful which you may be able to tell by the way I'm typing. I can't bite now because of the pain caused from my jaw (just the left side).

I tried using Google for help and came across Joint Hypermobility or something and I do have a lot of the symptoms such as back pain (being referred to some guy or something at a hospital about it soon), muscle aches and fatigue.

Anyway any advice or anything like that? Could this be related to any illness? Thanks in advance for any answers.
