Dog Illness Symptoms-Cause?
We have a 3 year old beagle mix whose medical and other hx is unknown prior to January. He vomits approximately once a week, has had 2 seizures (since April), and had heart worm previously. Ideas of causes? We are thinking GERD, or something brain or heart related? We are going back to the vet soon, but would like some guidance if anyone has had a similar experience.
1 AnswerDogs1 decade agoWhat were the dinosaurs called from the 90s at Toys R' Us?
They are plush...come in different kinds...all have the same eyes (two white buttons connected to one another, both have black center dots)....have a squeaker inside that makes them make a moaning/squeaking noise if you squeeze them. I got mine circa 1993. The most common ones I saw were the ones that looked like Barney (purple with green spots on back; t-rex) and the yellow one..maybe triceratops? I don't know other kinds of dinosaurs.

2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhat do you do when you can't understand a customer service rep at your credit card company?
I have a credit card I've never used with 1st Financial Bank. I have the $250 limit plan and had intended to use it to build credit, but never have. They recently changed the plan so that I have a $25 annual fee as of September, and I received it too late to not accept this change (I don't live at my mailing address). I called to cancel the card so I could go with a company that doesn't charge annual fees, and I THINK the guy said he would waive the fee to keep a satisfied customer and that was that. What do you do when you can't understand customer service reps? Should I just try calling back another time to try again? I could have just agreed to pay a $1 million annual fee for all I know!
2 AnswersCredit1 decade agoHow do I fix my MS word 2007 spell check?
I have tried to fix/check the most common issue--word options/proofing/making sure the boxes are unchecked for hide errors etc.It says it is on, but the only thing it catches is if I don't capitalize the first word of a sentence. It says it is set to English (United States)...
2 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoWhat has caused this unusual behavior and deterioration in my suddenly ill grandmother?
I am asking this question as a long shot--hoping someone has some information or has had a similar experience. My grandmother is 98 years old and was perfectly healthy cognitively and physically (other than eye damage, believe it or not) until 2 weeks ago. She fell, broke her hip, developed pneumonia and had a heart attack over the course of 2 days. She had surgery to repair the hip and since then has not had pain medication due to her cognitive impact since the onset of these injuries. She is unable to sleep deeply (always falling asleep and jerking awake around the clock), has almost constantly moving hands, is very distraught, and often (but not always) believes she is around 30. She does not awaken enough to talk for more than 10 seconds--but does have periods of "normal" discussion and awareness of where she is and who she is talking to. It is as if she is stuck in a constant "limbo" and we are looking for answers.
Please only answer if you have had experience or research with a suggestion other than "her age".
6 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoHow can we encourage our guinea pig to begin eating his pellets again after illness?
He became ill and has had two trips to vets. He had a lot of strange symptoms, but all have resolved and his behavior is normal other than eating pellets and he is still a little hesitant to come out of his pigloo as often. He has pain medication (.06mL metacam) prescribed just in case something is hurting him (it appeared to be a tooth problem but 2 oral exams proved otherwise) and he also is taking 3 tbsp of critical care (mixed with 6tbsp water) a day. How can we encourage him to eat pellets again? He lost a lot of weight so the amount of critical care is essential. Any tips??
3 AnswersRodents1 decade agoIs it okay to give our recovering guinea pig some human baby food?
He was brought to the vet due to no longer eating and we have him on critical care and some veggies right now. He is not getting enough vitamin C as he won't eat solids yet, so I gave him 6mLs of organic blueberry apple baby food (no other ingredients other than vitamin c).
4 AnswersRodents1 decade agoGuinea pig tooth problems?
The past few nights we have been posting about our guinea pig's illness. Here are his signs/symptoms:
Eating less and slower
Irregular feces
Minimal eye and nose discharge
NO sneezing/labored breathing/drooling
lethargic
He dramatically improved after seeing the vet, but still had an appetite issue and had irregular feces due to having critical care (made it wet). His feces are back to normal and he is purring again, but still not wanting to come out of his house and is now making a weird noise with his mouth when he tries to chew, letting pellets and carrots fall out of his mouth. This frustrates him and he turns away (carrots are his favorite). The vet checked his teeth and said even his molars were okay. Could we have done damage to something in his mouth by syringe feeding him incorrectly? What could this be?
2 AnswersRodents1 decade agoWhat is causing our guinea pig's change in feces?
He was taken to the vet yesterday for eating and drinking less, and showing signs of weakness and fatigue. He had x-rays and no extreme bloat and no blockage was found, though he was dehydrated. He was pumped with critical care by the vet and then by us, and has started eating some pellets, hay, and green pepper again. His feces are coming out connected in either a long "string" pattern or clumps, with some normal. I wouldn't call it "diahrea" because it isn't that loose, it is just moist and softer than usual. Could this be due to having so much critical care without solid food? He is acting about 80% back to himself today, compared to about 30% yesterday, but this feces issue is still concerning me. Any advice or personal stories are appreciated.
2 AnswersRodents1 decade agoWhat could be wrong with our guinea pig?
We have a 3.5 year old male guinea pig. We took him to a vet today because when we woke up he had a little bit of green nasal discharge and appeared to not have been eating/drinking lately. He also had unusual shaped feces that we had to ease out for him. He had x-rays and everything looked okay but he was dehydrated and had lost 6 ounces in 1-2 weeks. He is not himself and staying inside of his house. He has lost little bunches of hair (probably 5-10 strands at once, not visible on his body but in the cage shavings). He does have gas. He did take food from a syringe and drank water, and ate some green pepper. He is not talkative and very tired. The vet said he should improve by tomorrow, but I am still concerned. Has anyone else had this problem?
4 AnswersRodents1 decade agoHow can I get color-bleeding stains out of my white sweater and shirt?
I washed my darks and lights together (which I always do) but something bled onto my white oxford shirt and my white cardigan. Both whites are pure white. What is the best way to get those set in stains completely out without runining the clothes?
2 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoWhy can my IBM laptop no longer make a connection the my battery?
I have a 4 year old laptop with a battery that won't fully charge anymore. This happened about a year ago. Tonight, I went to pick it up and it was literally 1inch off the hard surface when it slipped backwards off my hand. The screen went blank and the power button didn't work. I took the battery out so it would turn off, and then my computer started normally and everything was there. However, my battery is no longer read by the laptop so when it is plugged in it says it isn't. What can I do?
3 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoAny ideas for severe arthritis in dogs?
My beagle is now 15, and was diagnosed with arthritis about 5 years ago due to obesity. She has lost all the weight necessary quite a while ago and was doing "fine" for years. She is on a steroid (the one that causes liver damage long term) and also a pain med. She stopped taking the medication for a 1-2 week period in July, and although she started up again, she has noticeably gotten worse. Her back end is low to the ground and her arms bow like a bull dog. She does not cry, but is clearly uncomfortable.
What options are there for treatment? We give her treats like Happy Hips and used to give her Sea Cucumber treats. Any information or ideas are very welcome and appreciated. Please honest and kind answers only.
6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHas anyone used Petaprin for their dog?
My dog has severe arthritis that began due to obesity (about 5 years ago?) and is now elderly (15). She is having a very difficult time. She is taking 2 higher dosage of a steroid, as well as pain medication that she has been on for a long time now. Has anyone heard of Petaprin? Does this actually work? She is a beagle, and about 30 pounds. I know Petaprin was specifically developed for large dogs, but read it can help all size dogs. Is this a gimmick? Does anyone really know?
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoI have had arm pit pain, mostly in my left arm pit, on and off for probably a few years. What could this be?
I'm only 22 years old, so I know Breast cancer is a possibility but definitely not the first thing someone would think of. I do have prostate cancer in my family (father, both grandfathers) and breast cancer in my maternal aunt, so I know my risk is greater. The pain is most often right before I start my period, and lasts for a few days at the most. What is the reason for this? Does anyone else experience this? I do not have any lumps that I can feel.
1 AnswerPain & Pain Management1 decade agoHow can I get my dog to take her pills?
She has been taking medication for years now, and is just getting too picky and smart to take them how she used to. She only has an issue with one that must taste really awful, because the others she ignores. We have tried putting them in peanut butter, cheese, steak, treats, stew beef chunks, wrapped in bologna, etc. Any other ideas? Also, what supplements or treats (ex. happy hips) have worked for your dog's arthritis? Now that she isn't taking her pain meds, she has a really sore back end (could be hip, knee, or foot..she has had knee issues in the past). Thanks!

I am in reunion with my older brother who was given up for adoption. We just met 4 months ago, and I had just found out about him even existing. We have become close, and I am looking for some good upbeat quotes about the connection of a brother and sister.
