I'm a (rather new) Solitary Wiccan. I stumbled on it while researching different religions as I was not happy being a Catholic. I'm not real sure of myself yet in ceremonies and the like, but I'm learning. I LOVE cats and would have a house full if I could. Unfortunatly, I'm limited to 2 by my landlord. I am thankful they are generouse enough to let me have them!

  • Are there any another options for satellite radio other than Sirius/XM?

I have Sirius radio. Have for a couple of years, and I love it. BUT every year the price goes up. Then they took away the free internet listening. Quite frankly, I'm sick of it. Are there any other options?

  • How can I make tea so it tastes good?

I've tried green tea, added honey to green tea, many different varieties of herbal tea, and added honey to all of those varieties. I don't really like any of them. They're too bland (except for the green tea, which is just gross.) But I like the iced green tea with citrus by Lipton that comes in the 20 oz bottles - which has very few of the benefits of green tea. Suggestions, please?!?

  • I just found out I have a "gluten sensitivity". How can I reduce how much I consume?

I have always loved my carbs. It's what I live off of! I know carbs do not necessarily equal gluten. But this is an average day in food for me:

Breakfast: Peanut butter sandwich (on wheat bread) with chocolate milk

Lunch: Sub sandwich OR veggie burger OR pizza OR whatever supper was the night before with Mountain Dew

Supper: Spaghetti OR mac n cheese OR ramen noodles OR Hamburger Helper OR something along those lines with chocolate milk.

I work until 5-5:30 and then have to drive 45 minutes home, so I don't have a whole lot of time to make a complex meal unless we want to eat right before going to bed. Also, my life does not revolve around the kitchen and I do not want to split my time between work and the kitchen!

I'm a vegetarian, so filling up on protein (meat) is out. That's why I have a PB sandwich every morning. I'm not big on salads. It seems whenever I eat a salad, I'm hungry again in 45 minutes. That's not to say I'm not willing to try. I'm just saying, it hasn't worked for me yet. I'm also not exactly "well off" either. $6 boxes of "gluten free" noodles need to be kept to a minimum.

I've heard taking 2,000 - 6,000 IU of vitamin D can help with this sensitivity. Does anyone know if this is accurate?

Please don't be a jerk and say "don't eat bread and noodles"! WHAT can I substitute them with???

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Psychic abilities increased by magnets?

All of the reading I have done on various "paranormal" activities involving ESP/Clairvoyance/aura reading etc. references "magnetic fields" of one kind or another.

Over simplified, and a bit ridiculous sounding, I admit, my question is: if I stick magnets to my head, will it increase my psychic abilities?

  • How do I find the history of my house?

We bought a house last year, and I think it would be interesting to find out who built it, who lived there, and that sort of thing. So far, all I know is it was built in the '40s and the people I bought it from were only there for about 6 years.

Where would I go to research that? Also, how would I go about finding out if any "events" took place there such as fires, weddings, deaths...

  • How do I discourage my cockatiels from breeding?

Without keeping them in seperate cages.

    Here's a brief history:

I started out with 2 male cockatiels. One died, so I went to the pet store and bought another - supposedly male - speckled cockatiel that somebody bought and then returned. After doing my research I found that I in fact had a female speckled cockatiel. My (real) male had already gotten attached, as had I, so returning her was not an option. Plus she has a "gimpy" wing and I'm not sure if it happened at the pet store, or at the other residence. Since this is not exactly an "upscale" pet store, I wouldn't doubt it happened there, and I'm not bringing her back. I have 2 cages, but I generally leave both doors open so they can climb around and have some freedom. I've caught them mating a few times and yelled at them to stop.

    Fast forward 2 years:

They are mating like crazy!! Apparantly, they have been successful as Lydia has laid 2 eggs and they still keep "doing it". I have not taken the eggs away as a) that's murder and b) it will only encourage her to lay more eggs to replace those that are missing.

Please don't lecture me on irrisponsible breeding/care of the chicks. I know it will be a lot of work on my part as well as my birds to care for them and I am willing to take on that responsibility.

As I said, they generally roam free and like their "freedom". I would hate to keep them caged, especially seperately as they love to groom each other and always sleep side by side. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Please don't be stupid and suggest I get rid of one.

Thanks in advance for the serious answers!

  • I found a baby bird. What else can I do with it?

We own a house in the country and every year birds make nests in our barn. I was putting the lawn mower away in the garage, which is about 100 yards away from the barn, and a baby bird came hobbling towards me. It is the same kind of bird that make their nests in the barn, and that's obviously where it came from. It appears to have an injured leg since it only pushes itself with one foot. It's an older baby. It has all of it's feathers and it's eyes are open.

I know you're not supposed to put baby birds back in the nest as the mother will just shove it back out. Not only that, but that would mean climbing up a ladder to guess which nest it came out of while angry parents swoop at my head. So, I shredded some newspaper and put it in a bowl so it would stop trying to walk all over the yard. I put it in the driveway where I could keep an eye on it to see if the parents would come and feed it. I don't think it was shoved out of the nest because there is something wrong with it as it is older. I think it just fell out. But, no adults came to take care of it. I have pet birds in the house that are fed organic pellets. I crushed some and mixed them with water to make sort of a paste and tried to feed it with a straw. It just seemed really tired and not really interested in food. I put some little pieces of blanket over it to keep it warm over night and will try to feed it again in the morning.

Is there anything else I can do?

FYI: I did NOT touch it with my hands. I used leather chore gloves in case it has a disease or lice.

  • (Really) Fast, Easy, Relatively Healthy Breakfast?

I absolutely HATE mornings. Therefore, I hit my snooze button as many times as I can before I absolutely HAVE to get up. As you can imagine, that leaves very little time for breakfast. I usually grab a granola bar on my way out the door with a glass of chocolate milk. That's IF I have enough time/remember to grab the milk.

I eat between 6:30-7:00 on my way to work. I am starving by 10:00! I used to keep pop tarts in my desk for breakfast, but this is high in empty calories, so I switched to granola bars.

Any ideas from other busy people that hate mornings?

  • How do I meditate.............................?

I understand the whole "find a quiet place, sit 'pretzel style' if it's comforable, and how to place my hands". But then what? What do I focus on? Just my breath? A simple object such as a bowling pin?

Also, would it be better to listen to relaxing instrumental music? or silence?

I'm not meditating "for" anything like overcoming my fear of heights. I would just like to reconnect with myself and possibly my dieties.

    Thanks for the help!!

  • How do I report a specific individual?

Last week I was going along answering questions and noticed one particular user had some very interesting questions. Today I was going back and looking at answers I had given. I just like to look at the best answer chosen and see if I agree or disagree. It's just a curiosity thing. Well, I noticed this user - who is a top contributor - was picking her husband (I'm assuming) as the best answer. Her settings are private. I only noticed because I answered a few of her questions close together.
