I am so upset that Shawn Marion wants to be traded. My heart is broken. I love my Phoenix Suns and was hoping that they could win a title this year but without Marion I don't know if it will happen. I am going to cry. He is making a big mistake. This SUCKS.

  • Is it safe to gently toss a cat in the air?

My cat is very hyper, vocal, and good at showing when he does not consent to something. He loves to jump as high as he can (on top of cabinets, etc.), and is constantly running back and forth across rooms and attacking everything (whether it moves or not). He has distinct vocal mannerisms; we can tell exactly when he likes something, dislikes something, and is asking for something. He has a scratching problem where he scratches you if you so much as annoy him.

So, when I gently toss him in the air and catch him (he never goes further than an inch away from my fingertips) I know he likes it. He doesn't scratch or vocalize and people who have seen me toss him say he doesn't look scared. His tail doesn't get big either like it does when he's scared. The happiness of the cat is not the issue here. He enjoys the game. However, it occurred to me that it might not be a SAFE game. Could I damage his spinal chord or anything? He is full grown (15 months) if that matters.

Once again, I am not abusing him. I throw him less than an inch away from my fingertips, he doesn't get mad or scared, I only do it 3-4 times in a row, and he does not run away from me when it's over. He likes the game. But is it safe to play?

  • How do I change the background to ONE slide in PowerPoint 2010?

I am trying to make the title slide of my presentation have a different background than every other slide, but can't find any 'apply to selected' options in PowerPoint 2010. I saw someone gave advice to right click, choose format background, then click 'close' instead of apply to all. But that doesn't work. The slide I want to change is still the same as the rest. Furthermore, the main 'format' tab will only show up at the top if I'm in a text box, so I can't change the background under format. There is no 'apply to selected' option in the background button under the Design tab. . .

Aren't programs supposed to be MORE user friendly as they come out with newer versions? This used to be so simple to do.

  • How can I get my 8 month old kitten to stop attacking my older cats?

I just adopted an 8 month old male kitten (about 11 pounds). I already had a 6 yr old female (only 7 pounds) and 16 yr old male (19 pound maine-coon mix). I had the cats separated at first, but they seemed to get along well right away. There was no hissing through the door, a lot of curiosity on all ends, and when they saw each other, no one would attack. So they remained separated for just a few days. I stupidly assumed the kitten would be calming down at this age, but I was wrong. He wants to play all the time and the older cats want none of it. He is especially interested in the 6 yr old because she's smaller, faster and somewhat playful herself. When he is awake and in the same room as her, he does not give her more than a minute's rest. Whenever he attacks, she hits him, hisses, growls and runs away. She is truly upset, but the kitten thinks she is playing, so he doesn't give it up. She has taken to hiding whenever he is around and her quality of life has gone done dramatically. I know the 8 month old was weened early, found without a mother or litter mates at 4 weeks old, so he may have never learned what kind of cues from other cats mean, "quit, I've had enough." How can I train him to stop pestering the 6 year old?

  • How long after getting a tattoo can I wear a bra?

Three days ago I got a tattoo on my left shoulder blade and my bra strap would normally go straight through it. The artist told me not to wear straps over it until it is healed. This is my only tattoo, so I'm not sure what "healed" means. Everything I've read says when the tat stops pealing it is healed and I can start wearing a normal bra. However, there is no sign of the tat scabbing or pealing yet. One of my friends said the tattoo on her back never scabbed. I am using high quality moisturizer made specifically for tattoos, and so am hoping I have a similar experience with minimal pealing. If my tattoo doesn't peal, how do I know it is done healing?

Right now I am wearing strapless bras and criss-cross bras, but I am quite top heavy and these really don't give me as much support as I would like. Nubra is not an option because they don't make them for my size. So I really just want to know when I can have a bra strap over my shoulder again.

  • What kind of room dividers will successfully separate cats?

I am getting a third cat at the end of July/beginning of August. I know I need to separate them at first to make introductions easier, but don't necessarily have the space to do it. While I could keep the new cat in my bedroom and the current resident cats in the living room, I'm afraid the current residents will become immediately resentful. In addition to the fact that one of them likes to sleep with me, they have a cat tower in the bedroom, enjoy hiding in the closet, under the bed, in their carrying cases that are in there, etc. I am afraid they will smell the new cat in the bedroom for the week or so it takes to introduce and become more resentful because they can't get to so many of their spots.

I was considering also using the bathroom as the new cats first room, but realized it will be the dead of summer and I have no windows in there. So this is not an option. Additionally, my kitchen is too small to use that room and just put a baby gate up.

So, I was going to try to divide my living room into 2 separate rooms. The baby/companion animal gates I saw online were not big enough to go across the entire room. So I started looking at room dividers thinking I could get 2 (5 or 6 feet wide) and block off one corner of the room. (When I first introduced my second cat to my first cat I lived in a studio and had to keep the newcomer in the bathroom. This is why I am not worried that 25 square feet is too small a place for the new cat.)

My concern is that one of the three cats, curious about what is behind the dividers, will knock them over. I was looking at folding room dividers (i.e. http://www.roomdividerstore.com/metal-frame-fabric... or something like these http://www.iroomdividers.com/interior-room-divider... which I could lay horizontal. Anyone have any clue if the cats trying to climb/knock them over will be successful? I am not looking to spend more than a couple hundred dollars as I only plan on using the dividers for a week or so ever. So anything expensive is out of the question.

  • Will my new cat and old cats get along?

We currently have 2 cats. They did not grow up with each other. They were introduced when they were both already adults (about 14 and about 4). We have had the older one 5 months longer than the younger one. We've had the younger one about 2 1/2 years now, and the older one almost 3. They were extremely easy to introduce and we only had the new one confined to a single room for about 24 hours. They were friendly immediately. We are contemplating adopting another cat. Is it likely that our current cats will be just as easy going with a 3rd, or is it likely they will gang up against her?

In case it makes a difference: One of the current cats is male and the other is female. We are contemplating adopting a female estimated to be between 2-3 years old.

  • How can I get my new dog and cats to get along?

I just adopted a pit/pointer mix from our local shelter. This was about a week ago. She is a wonderful dog, housebroken, knows sit and paw and loves to play with the kids. The problem is she does not get along with the family cats. No one is going anywhere so they need to learn to live together. Is it possible to train her to get along with them? And if so any advice is appreciated. She doesn't try and hurt them but she does get over excited and tries to play. She is not a puppy, she is 2 years old.

  • My dog is coughing and we just saw the vet...?

I just rescued a 2 year old pit/pointer mix from the shelter. She saw the vet on Monday and was put on antibiotics for her stitches(from the spay), she was also given the remainder of her vaccines that were not given to her by the shelter. She has no heart worms or parasites. The vet checked for both. She was rescued on Thursday so almost a week ago and just started coughing yesterday. Now for my questions. Is it possible for kennel cough to appear now? And if so does she need to be treated for it or is it like a human cold that runs its course?

  • How can you get your organization included in those "welcome to the neighborhood" packets?

You know when you move how you get a whole package full of information about the surrounding area, often provided by the real estate broker and often including coupons? How does one get included in those? I would like to be able to get information about my community based nonprofit into those packets so that newcomers to the neighborhood know we exist. (BTW, we operate on the Upper West Side in NYC)

  • In the movie Code 46, how do they find out Maria and William even committed a Code 46 violation?

Alright, I personally hated this movie; but I had to watch it for a criminal justice class because of the themes about government control, surveillance, risk assessment and group management of a large 'underclass' population, etc. etc. Well, I watched it over a month ago and now have to talk about it in a paper. But since it wasn't my favorite, I quickly forgot most details. (I didn't know we would be assigned a paper or I would've taken notes. The professor said it was just for class discussion and then gives us this assignment a month later that involves the film.) So, all the wikipedia article says is William returns, finds out Maria's location because of an appointment she has scheduled, and then finds out she's been submitted to a clinic because of a code 46 violation. It doesn't tell me HOW anyone KNEW she committed it. . . Anyone remember?

  • One of my cats went under general anesthesia yesterday, and now the other is mad at him?

I got my second cat about a year and a half ago, and by this point my two cats get along just fine. The little one is definitely "the boss" of the older one, but they get along to the point where they hide in the closet together when the vacuum is on, touch noses often, and I've even witnessed the older one give the younger one a bath once. Well, the older one went under general anesthesia yesterday, and as soon as he came home, the younger one walked over to him, sniffed him and hissed. She then avoided him the rest of the night. I've been up for 10 minutes, and she's already hissed at him three times. All he has to do is walk near her, something she normally doesn't mind or welcomes with a nose tap, and she hisses at him and walks away. I'm sure he smells funny from the operation, but how long will this last? I live in a studio apartment, and so we are all forced to be around each other all day and I'm worried that she will actually hurt him. (She is smaller, faster and more feisty than he is. She could definitely scratch his eye or something if she wanted to.) I can't sit around all day and watch them, does anyone think she'll do more than hiss and swipe at him since they normally get along so well?

  • How come the Assemblies of God church allows women to become pastors, but not homosexuals? ?

Please no one give any nasty responses either way insulting either the church or homosexuals. I am honestly just curious; so let's try to keep this a positive environment.

So, in my experience, the A/G church outright condemns homosexuality. Not only are homosexuals not allowed to become pastors, but they are considered to be living in sin. Meanwhile, many A/G churches have women in leadership roles and some even have them as the head pastor.

Often I am told that the A/G church believes the bible is the infallible, inspired word of God. Thus, if homosexuality is called a sin in the bible, it is a sin. However, the bible states much more explicitly that women are not to speak in church (1 Corinthians 14:33-35), and that women should not have authority to teach men (1 Timothy 2:11-12). Yet, women clearly speak, teach and have authority in A/G churches. This is not considered a sin.

I have been told that Paul is against women as leaders because of the culture of the times, not because Christ was against women as leaders. Thus, the verses do not apply to our time.

However, I do not understand what evidence exists that Paul's aversion to homosexuality is not also cultural. Yes, homosexuality is also condemned in the old testament, but so are many other practices that are now widely accepted. It is my understanding that in the old testament, homosexuality was considered "unclean" the same way a woman's menstruation was considered unclean. These are examples of things that are ritualistically unclean, not things that are necessarily sinful or wrong. Just as Christ never condemned women as lesser than men, he never personally condemned homosexuals. It is only Paul and the old testament that do as much, and these also condemn women.

I am personally happy that the A/G church does ordain women. This is one step above many denominations who still hold to Paul's teaching about both homosexuals and women. But my question is why do they pick and choose? Am I missing something?

  • What to wear to an interview as a research assistant?

I have two interviews coming up. Both are for research assistant positions with nonprofit organizations. I am worried about my attire because my current place of employment allows me to wear casual clothing; I do not currently own any pants-suits or skirt-suits.

Additionally, I am a rather curvy woman, not a plus-sized woman, just curvy. This means, with the majority of suit jackets, if they fit me in the breasts they are too large everywhere else; they hang on my body strangely and make me appear boxy. It they fit me in the shoulders and in the waist, I am busting out of the top, or cannot button the top button(s).

Unfortunately, with the recent holidays, I did not prepare for this all in advance. I am not sure if I have time to buy a jacket AND have it tailored.

Is it appropriate to wear a blouse with no jacket to a first interview? What about leaving a suit jacket unbuttoned?

    Any other advice?

I have appropriate shoes, stockings, jewelry and I can easily blow dry my hair and pin it back. I am only worried about the actual outfit.

    THANK-YOU

  • How many people moved during the Great Depression? ?

My boyfriend and I were having a conversation about the partition of India, and he told me that it resulted in the largest human migration in history. I had been under the impression that the largest human migration took place during the Great Depression. I found a figure stating that 17.9 million people moved during the partition of India, but can't find a quote for the Great Depression. I believe my boyfriend because I was probably misinformed by someone with an ignorant western thought process, but am still curious.

  • Where can I find vegan nail polish remover in NYC? ?

I live in the East Village area and hardly ever have a reason to go above 16th st. People are always saying go look in health food stores. I shop at the Trader Joe's and Whole Foods in Union Square; neither of those stores carry vegan nail polish remover even though Whole Foods carries other No Miss nail polish products. I also know that many of the products at the Body Shop are vegan. The Body Shop near Astor Place doesn't carry any nail products. Could someone please give me a specific location where I could find vegan nail polish remover? Does anyone know if the giant Whole Food on Houston carries it?
