Gaited Girl
Trying to find the right word...?
A word for someone who is obnoxiously social, similar to social butterfly, but with a more negative connotation.
2 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoAnyone know of a good free online course hosting site?
We are looking for a simple course hosting site for a 4-H team, small scale, probably 10-15 people. We'd like to be able to post PDFs and PowerPoints, and quizzes would be nice, as well. It needs to be easy to organize, since the head coach is not very technically proficient. Also, it would be better if it didn't require us to download software in order to use.
Thanks very much.
3 AnswersOther - Education1 decade agoNever thought I'd ask this but...?
Ok, I swore I'd never ask about show names, but...I'm looking for a name for a bay minimal sabino Arab with one blue eye, from a Khemosabi line, so I'd like it to have a 'kh' in the name somewhere.
Actually, this is for one of my model horses, so it's not actually going to actually be registered, I won't steal anyone's dream name here!
8 AnswersHorses1 decade agoOpinions on rubber hunt boots?
I know that most people will say that you shouldn't ever show in rubber boots, but here's our situation. Our horseless horse kid wants to switch disciplines this year to hunt. She missed all the used tack sales in our area, so she was not able to buy any used show clothes. There is a tack store an hour away from us that we will take her to to find show clothes, but obviously it will be very expensive, especially the boots. I don't think she wants to buy her show clothes online, either, which rules out eBay. So my question is, would it be acceptable for this girl, who only shows once a year at the Fair, to buy rubber boots to save money, since her parents aren't paying for her show clothes?
6 AnswersHorses1 decade agoAnyone know what kind of saddle this is?
I'm wondering if anyone knows what type of saddle this is. It's an English saddle with a slightly forward cut flap, but it has no knee rolls. There's no cutback, and it has a square cantle.

Doesn't look like a saddleseat saddle to me, because of the flap and the lack of cutback, but it's obviously not a close contact, dressage, or all-purpose hunt saddle because of the lack of knee roll.
8 AnswersHorses1 decade agoSaddleseat double bridle reins?
I know the curb rein is supposed to be thinner than the snaffle rein. But are there any other differences in the reins? Someone told me that only the snaffle reins have a buckle in the middle, but I'm not sure I believe that. And I've seen some bridles where the snaffle reins are laced, and others where both sets of reins are smooth. And I do show saddleseat, but I ride a Walker, so I don't use a double bridle.
By the way, I'm asking for a model horse bridle I'm working on, not for a real horse. So maybe you can get away with two sets of laced reins in the show ring, but I need the nit-picky details right, because model horse judges are tough!!
Thanks, guys!
4 AnswersHorses1 decade agoWhat color is this horse?
For several years, I've never been exactly sure what color my Tennessee Walker is. I've been told that he is red roan, sabino, sabero, or rount/grizzle depending on who I ask.
He has ticking throughout his coat, and a lighter belly. His mane is a dark grey, and his tail is flaxen, with a few grey strands. He does not appear to have lightened with age at all.

14 AnswersHorses1 decade agoWhy do my cats do this?
We have four cats, and with each of them, if you scratch their back, they start purring and licking, either themselves or anything in front of them. Is this just a reflex, like when dogs thump their hind leg when they're scratched, or is it something else?
Thanks!
9 AnswersCats1 decade agoIdeas for games to play on horseback?
I'm just looking for something to spice up my winter riding a little. We usually have two to three people riding in the arena, and it's an outdoor arena with snow, so nothing that requires cantering or galloping, please. All the riders are intermediate or higher, and it's not a large arena.
Thanks for the help!
6 AnswersHorses1 decade agoHow to use a rubber tongue port?
It's usually made of black rubber, also called a juby port or a tongue loller. It has a solid end and an end with two holes in it, and clips in the middle, like on this website

I'd like to know how to fit it onto a bit, preferably if you could give me a picture showing how this works.
Thanks!!
1 AnswerHorses1 decade ago'Male' gerbil had babies, how do I care for them?
I have a group of three gerbils, supposedly male. I've had them for about two months, and suddenly one of them gave birth to six babies. I didn't want babies and wasn't prepared for them, but I can't just kill them, I'd feel really bad. I took the other two males out and put them in a different cage so I don't get more babies, but what do I need to so for the mom and the babies now?
6 AnswersRodents1 decade agoIdeas for riding lessons?
I've just started giving riding lessons, and I need some ideas for riding exercises and activities to have the girls do. One rides hunt, one Western. They are beginner and intermediate riders, don't do any jumping or anything yet.
Let me know about anything your instructor made you do, or you make people do...Thanks for your help, guys!
