My mom wants my boyfriend and I to get a condo since they are so cheap right now. She offered to pay the down payment and possibly help out with rent if needed. I am going to school full time, but my bf makes enough for the mortgage and bills. My question is could she help him qualify for a home loan since he doesn't have much credit, and could I also have my name on the mortgage even though I don't have an income? My mom already owns her own home, so would we qualify for a first time buyers rebate? I would talk to a lender or real estate agent but in my experience they tend to get very pushy. My boyfriend is a talented musician and I have every faith that he can accomplish something in that field. However recently his friends have been saying that they aren't sure if he can completely commit to a band because he has a job and a girlfriend (coming up 6 years) and is going to school. We are in a routine that I'm totally happy with, but I know throwing himself into music as completely as he wants to will regress our relationship, and I'm not sure I can handle that. I mentioned going on a break, so he doesn't have to worry about me. I would just hate to have robbed him of the chance of being able to do what he wants. Oh he's 20, so still VERY young. Is it possibly to balance all of those things, without having one of them severely suffer?
