  • My son gets sick after a milkshake, but he can drink milk with no problem?

It doesn't seem to matter where we go because I know McDonald's uses a mix, but Steak-n-Shake does not. This last time it was Arby's. He has no problem with milk at home, so what else is there in the shake that causes this? He's autistic and is very picky, so typically he will get fries with that and that's all. Still, I will make him fries at home and he has no problem there. Has to be the shakes, but why? What's the common denominator in shakes that's not in milk? Thanks!

  • Anyone have a child on medication for Asperger's Syndrome?

My son is 8 years old and has been diagnosed with AS. There is no medication to treat AS, but he also has anxiety and depression which his doctor thinks should be treated through medication. We see a pediatric psychiatrist soon and I am wondering which medications - specifically SSRI's are typically used for kids that age and if they only come in pill form. Nothing I've read seems to address anxiety or depression meds for kids his age.

  • Need a good, pretentious & silly name for a male, long-haired orange kitten, please?

I asked this question before when I (incorrectly) thought I had a girl. Turns out, Isabelle is not a fitting name anymore! Well, he's fluffy! How the heck could I tell? Even the vet's office took 3 people to verify. Anyway, any thoughts would help. He's got great big eyes and always looks like everything he's doing is incredibly important and exciting. He needs a silly name like Ziggy or Iggy or Sir Puffs-a-Lot.

  • Please help me remember the name of a book series I read years & years ago?

I think this was back in the 80's. There were several books and each one was about a different character within the same theme. In one, this guy is supposed to die but when death comes to get him, he kills death. Because of this, he must now take over that role. I remember that he drives a corvette and that his new job is now to weigh souls that are too closely balanced between good and evil. There was another book about the guy named "Time" who lived backwards in time and then another book about a person who weaved the tapestry of fate. I think my son would like these books but I can't for the life of me remember the author or titles. Help?

  • Need a name for a long-haired, female orange tabby kitten please?

She is little Miss Manners (which is what I've been calling her) and seems to need a rather snooty or pretentious name. She looks like a little princess and only plays by patting things with her paws. Her brothers like to throw down, but she is much too lady-like for such things! Any thoughts?

  • Why do people reflexively put their hand on their mouth when they are shocked at something they see?

It doesn't seem to be a specifically western-culture thing to do because if you see videos from Asia online and someone is surprised by something funny or startling, their hand goes automatically to their mouth. Is it an old reflex to keep us from screaming? Am I over-analyzing this? I think it's interesting.

We are considering the purchase of either of these systems and we'd like some opinions from people who have used both. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Stay-at-home moms, what are some good ways you've found to save money?

Now, more than ever, we seem to barely make ends meet. We really need to cut back and tighten our budget. I work part-time to help offset the bills, and this way I don't need daycare for the kids, but it just never seems to be enough. We don't go out at all and I only buy clothes when mine have completely fallen apart. I'm sure there are some great ideas out there that would help me a lot. Thanks in advance for your answers!

  • In England, is it really considered rude to refer to a bed as "queen-sized"?

My brother is working there for a few years and was told this when he went to buy sheets. He said that a queen-sized bed over there is referred to as a king, and a king-sized bed is called a super king. Why is it rude to refer to a bed as "queen" but not "king"? Just curious if that's true and all.

  • Painful canker sore - do you know any home remedies?

I think I bit the side of my mouth or sucked on it in my sleep. Now I've got a canker sore that is driving me crazy. I vaguely remember getting them when I had braces but that was so long ago, I don't remember what I did about it. Does anyone have any thoughts? Seems like I used to put baking soda on it but it was painful and I don't know if that was truly supposed to work or not. Any help would sure be appreciated! Thanks!

  • Please help with some lyrics? ?

Here's what we have: I tried so hard, and got so far, but in the end, it doesn't really matter

At least, it's something like that. That's all my son remembers and it sounds familiar but not enough for me to place it. I know it's mainstream rock, but beyond that, I can't say. Do you know the title and artist?

  • Why do high-efficiency dryers produce less lint?

When we bought a high-efficiency washer and dryer, we noticed that the new dryer didn't collect a whole lot of lint on the lint screen. We thought it was a fluke, but my parents recently bought a high-efficiency washer and dryer (different brand) and have made the same comment. There is nothing wrong with either of our dryers - they are producing heat and there is no lint blockage anywhere. Ours is an electric dryer and theirs is gas so it's not a matter of power/heat source. Is this a good or bad thing? Are the new dryers not as hard on clothes and are therefore preserving the fabric? OR ... Are they just leaving lint all over the clothes instead of removing it? There's two ways to look at it and I don't know what to think. Mind you, this doesn't keep me up at night - just something to ponder...

Is the new dryer not doing as good a job? I wonder how I should

  • Is it possible to buy a decent bottle of wine at Wal-Mart?

I would like to try some dry red wines. I need to run to the grocery store tomorrow and the closest store is a Super Wal-Mart 40 miles away. It's on the outskirts of the nearest decent-sized city and I don't want to drive further into town just to find a bottle of wine for myself. What brand(s) are decent and available at a Wally World. No snobby answers, please. I can't afford expensive wine at this point in my life but I very much enjoy a nice glass of wine to unwind after the kids are in bed. Thanks everybody!!!!

  • Are there really people out there who are still undecided on the election?

I have trouble believing that we really need more political ads, debates and hype. Do people honestly still not know where the candidates stand on the issues or can America just not get enough reality-trash TV? Are you decided or not?

  • Does an unopened jar of salsa have the same shelf life if it's refrigerated?

I bought a jar of salsa this summer and put it in the fridge (seal intact) to chill. Now here it is September and I just discovered it behind the condiments. It's still unopened and has the original seal - the pop-up button is still down as well - but I'm wondering if the temperature of the refrigerator has any effect on the shelf life. I can't find an expiration date on the jar but I know I probably bought it in July or August. If it was in my cabinet, I probably would assume it was fine.
