  • What do you think of this Tissot watch?

I would like to buy a tissot to go with dressy casual outfit. I found this watch that I like (T055.417.17.057.00) but I feel that it looks a bit understated (or not noticeable enough) and want to see what other people think? Also if you have other suggestions in the same category (about $400 budget) feel free to post them!

  • Need advice on stylish sneakers!?

I am looking to buy a pair of new stylish sneakers and need advice on the color/style I should go for. I need these sneakers to be worn casually on dark jeans. I am a 27 years old mature guy and I have a simplistic causal style (e.g. simple polo or shirt with jeans). I don't like going too casual. I found these pair of black Lacostes that I like. What do you think? Can they be worn with dark jeans and any color polo/shirt? Any other suggestions?

  • Which watch is nicer?

I am a 26 year man. Will be using the watch for casual and dress occasions. I'm down to two beautiful watches but having a hard time deciding on one. They have the same set of features, same size, but look a little different. Price difference doesn't matter. Which one looks better??

  • Is he being fair and I am overreacting?

For about 6 months I let my roommate who is also one of my best friends use my car because he was just out of college and didn't have his own car yet. Just a week before he bought his own car my car broke down and it cost $2000 in repairs. Our agreement was to to share the cost of gas and insurance but never talked about how to share cost of repairs (big mistake). Anywho, one night when we were doing our finances for the house (we share expenses) the car repairs topic came up. I told him that he knows I am in a bad financial situation and would appreciate if he could contribute something towards the repairs. He said that he would but he has to think about the right amount.

A week went by and today I find out that he would be contributing $200 towards the repairs (he put the number into an excel sheet that we share but we haven't talked about it yet). My initial feeling is me being offended because $200 out of $2000 feels like I'm a beggar (I expected around $500). I felt he is so cheap that he only contributed that amount even though he is in a much better financial situation than I am. I let him use my car to help him out and this is how he says thank you, with $200! I usually never let someone drive my car and made a big compromise for him (I had only had this car for a year before he started to drive it).

I don't know if I should accept the money. What do you think people? Am I overreacting? If not, what would be a nice way to tell him that this is too little to contribute without compromising our friendship?

    Thanks a lot!

  • How will paying off my credit card affect my credit score?

My credit score is currently at 632 (Equifax). Among open accounts I only have 3 credit cards with total credit limit of $21500 and balance of $12273 (57% utilization ratio). I'm about to pay off the balance on one of the credit cards which is $9500 leaving me with about $3000 total remaining balance (for all credit cards).

Will this improve my credit score? By how much? I'm looking to lease a car and hoping that paying off the credit card will improve my credit to get approved for a lease.

Additional info: I'm a single man - 26 years old - fulltime job making about $75k.

  • What's the right thing to do?

For the past 5 months I let my friend who is also my roommate drive my car. He had just graduated from college and didn't have money to buy his own car, so I offered to help him and added him to my auto insurance so he can borrow the car whenever he needed to. We drive together to work everyday and he used the car just as much as I did if not more. This was until last week when he bought his own car.

Just before he bought his car my car broke down while he was driving it and I had to pay close to $1500 in repairs to fix the clutch and install a new control arm. Of course I can't blame him for this as it is a used car and things like this happen. But part of me is saying that he should pay part of cost since he's been using the car and any money can help me now since I'm in a bad financial situation (he knows it). While another part says I should not ask him to pay anything as he only drove the car for 5 months and I've had it for 2 years. Our initial agreement was to split the insurance and gas and any regular car maintenance (oil change, etc.), but we never talked about big repairs like this (now I realize we should have).

What is the right thing to do here? Do you think he should pay anything? If yes, how much? Keep in mind that he's a close friend and while it would REALLY help me if he contributed to the cost of repair I don't want to make things weird between us. However he's a reasonable person and if I approach him with a good offer and valid reasoning he would accept.

    Any help is appreciated!

  • Does transmission need to be taken out to replace clutch fork?

2007 Mazda 3 GT: the clutch fork is broken and needs replacement. The mechanic I took it to said that Mazda released a redesigned clutch fork and as such the release bearing and bolts need to be replaced to fit the new clutch fork. This requires the transmission to be taken out and we all know the crazy cost of taking out transmission!

Question is, if I were to find a clutch fork that matches the part number of my broken clutch fork (not the redesigned one) does transmission still need to be taken out to replace the fork? Also, would you know how I can find the part number for the clutch fork of 2007 Mazda 3?

  • Clutch not working. What is the problem?

I drive a 2007 Mazda 3 GT manual. This morning on the way to work the clutch was hard to press and couldn't change gears at the traffic light. I turned off the car but it wouldn't turn back on because the clutch couldn't be pressed. Then slowly the clutch pedal started to slide down until it hit the floor. I got off the car and noticed that the brake/clutch oil had all leaked under the car.

I got the car towed to the mechanic and now waiting to hear from them. But I would like to have some information about the problem and get a second opinion from the experts. What could be the problem?

    Appreciate the help.

  • Can I claim a dependent amount (line 305)?

I am a resident of Canada working here. My parents (not residents of Canada) live in another country and were unemployed and did not have any income last year. As such I've been helping them financially with their living expenses and helped my brother attend university. I transferred to them about $20,000 last year alone.

I am considering to claim the $20k as a dependent amount on line 305. I checked the CRA website for the conditions and found that I meet all of them except that my parents did not live with me last year as they are in a different country. But it doesn't sound reasonable that I am not able to claim this amount as I still gave them the money and they actually are dependents.

My question is: should I claim this amount? Or would this be considered fraud? What will CRA do if they find out that my parents did not live with me last year?

    Appreciate the help.

  • Should I mention Trade Secrets on Resume?

I know that patents are usually listed on a Resume. But how about Patentable Trade Secrets? Should I mention on my Resume that I have patentable trade secrets from my previous job (without providing the details of course)? Do prospect employers care for these? Are there any legal restrictions from the previous employer?
