  • Are their any stories set into the future that results in primitive living?

    It seems a lot of fictional works of the future usually results in some advance technology or something. I was wondering if their is a fictional story where the world gets destroyed and hundreds of years later people technology is basically lost and the setting seems to be like medieval Europe. In another words people use to have guns and rifles in 2016, now have swords and spears in the year 10000 or whatever.

  • What happens if a virus specific to another species enters your body?

    For example lets say your dog gets Parvovirus. Well the particular strain of Parvo is specific to the canine species (kind), so what happens if that virus goes into a human body. I understand people do not get sick since its species specific, I was just wondering what happens to the virus, does it stay in you even though it can do nothing?

  • Trying to understand the tiebreaker procedures. What happens if the Green Bay Packers lose next week to the Atlanta Falcons?

    I m curious who takes their spot as the no. 2 seed? Would it be Seattle Seahawks or the Detroit Lions assuming they win their respective games. Both teams (Seahawks and Lions) have a tie-breaker win over the Packers.

  • Did Jeffrey Dahmer's atheist beliefs play a role in his killings?

    "If a person doesn't think that there is a God to be accountable to, then what's the point of trying to modify your behavior to keep it within acceptable ranges? That's how I thought anyway. I always believed the theory of evolution as the truth, that we all just came from the slime. When we died, you know, that was it, there is nothing, and I've since come to believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is truly God, and I believe that I, as well as everyone else, will be accountable to Him."

  • How do you code boolean operators with different ranges (javascript)?

    Ok I proably worded the question weird, but I don't know what else to call it. Basically I want have my boolean operators to hit a range target. Here is an example.

    var someVariable = +prompt("Please enter a number between 1 and 15", "");

    //Here is what i want to do.

    if (someVariable <= 5) {

    //performs some code here

    }

    //else if (someVariable----------------Here is what I am confused about-------------------

    How do I test the condition to where it is 6 BUT LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO 10. How do you write that in javascript code. Same with the last part, how do I write it to where it says someVariable is EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN TEN BUT NOT GREATER THAN 15?

    The words in ALL CAPS is what I am trying to do.

  • How to Convert my IF Else to Switch Statement (javascript)?

    Practicing Switch statements. And no this is NOT HOMEWORK. I am doing this on the side in my spare time to learn a new skill.

    function painLevel(val) {

    var painStatus = document.getElementById("pain_status").innerHTML = val;

    var msg = document.getElementById("painMsg");

    if (painStatus == 1) {

    msg.innerHTML = "Pain is very mild, barely noticeable. Most of the time you don't think about it.";

    }

    else if (painStatus == 2) {

    msg.innerHTML = "Minor pain. Annoying and may have occasional stronger twinges. ";

    }

    else if (painStatus == 3) {

    msg.innerHTML = "Pain is noticeable and distracting, however, you can get used to it and adapt. ";

    }

    else if (painStatus == 4) {

    msg.innerHTML = "Moderate pain. If you are deeply involved in an activity, it can be ignored for a period of time, but is still distracting ";

    }

    else if (painStatus == 5) {

    msg.innerHTML = "Moderately strong pain. It can't be ignored for more than a few minutes, but with effort you still can manage to work or participate in some social activities. ";

    }

    else if (painStatus == 6) {

    msg.innerHTML = "Moderately strong pain that interferes with normal daily activities. Difficulty concentrating.";

    }

    else if (painStatus == 7) {

    msg.innerHTML = "Severe pain that dominates your senses and significantly limits your ability to perform normal daily activities or maintain social relationships. Interferes with sleep.";

    }

    else if (painStatus == 8) {

    msg.innerHTML = "Intense pain. Physical activity is severely limited. Conversing requires great effort. ";

    }

    else if (painStatus == 9) {

    msg.innerHTML = " Excruciating pain. Unable to converse. Crying out and/or moaning uncontrollably.";

    }

    else if (painStatus == 10) {

    msg.innerHTML = "Unspeakable pain. Bedridden and possibly delirious. Very few people will ever experience this level of pain";

    }else{

  • Atheist Response to the Federal Court of Appeals on Atheism is a Religion?

    "Atheism is [the inmate's] religion, and the group that he wanted to start was religious in nature even though it expressly rejects a belief in a supreme being," the 7th Circuit Court Of Appeals said.

    http://www.wnd.com/2005/08/31895/

    Since atheist are relative people and not absolutist, do they agree with the collective will of the society (Court of appeals) or does that rule not apply for this particular instance?

  • Help me atheist through this false logic?

    Person A says he is a Christian and commits a murderous crime. Person B says he is an atheist and commits a murderous crime. Since person A says he is a christian therefor he committed the crime in the name of Christianity. Person B is an atheist and since he said he is an atheist therefore he committed the crime in the name of atheism.

    (The entire argument is a logical fallacy on both parties.)

    Why is it when a quote unquote "Christian" commits a crime atheist say he did it under the name of religion?

    Could it be that a person SOMETIMES commits a crime regardless of their religious stance or lack thereof? Perhaps a person commits a crime with no regard to religion, but rather for their own selfish reasons whether that person is believer or not.

    If a dictator who doesn't believe in God who claimed to be an atheist, and killed thousands of people, would the no true scotsman fallacy apply? Another words would the atheist say "Oh he was suffering from a personality cult (applying the fallacy) and because of that he was religious.

  • Simple SEO question for WordPress regarding ads?

    Most companies obviously don't want the webmaster to click on the ads provided for them, but also don't want false impressions. Well I, like others have a dilemma. From time to time I like to update my website with good quality and fresh content and in so doing I have to log into my WordPress site (CMS). After logging on to my site, I then post some content and refresh my webpage to ensure it looks good, sharp, and crisp. Because I went to my website, this in turn creates "false impressions". How do I remedy this so I don't get penalized by the companies.

    I am an honest, fair individual and don't want to be a victim of circumstances.

  • Your thoughts of after life testimonies?

    Because I don't want to give a false dichotomy here, were these folks lying, telling the truth, delusional, hallucinating or any other theory. Consider Dr. Eban Alexander the third, a neuroscientist from Harvard who use to dismiss claims from folks who had comparable experiences citing scientific and logical reasons. Dr. Alexander as you know experienced life after death as they say. How do you respond to Dr. Alexander's experience? What say you forum?
