I have just been bought 60 litre 60 cm wide tropical aquarium which I am currently cycling, I'm wanting to know if I can keep neons and guppies together happily also maybe a couple of black mollies which require aquarium salt but the neons and guppies do not..would the salt halm the other fish? is it best to avoid black mollies.?

I was thinking of having 10 neons 5 guppies and two or three mollies, would this be ok?

I know ther rule is one inch for every 2 litres of water is that right?

Also if you could recommend any other fish that do well in a community tank I would be grateful for any suggestions!

I am planning on buying an aquarium for my as a xmas present, could anyone give me some advise on what would be the most silent air pumps and filters.... external or internal...what would be best?, i've heard the tetric whisper range are quite good, has anyone had any experience with them?

I have just bought an elite air pump and it makes the most horrible noise, can you recommend a silent air pump?

I purchased a fluval edge aquarium last month, 23 litre, I cycled the tank, added live plants and gravel, checked the ph and temp everyday for three weeks, for a week now I have had 5 neon tetra in the tank, they seem to be thriving, they have beautiful colours and are very active.

The question is I recently had a friend tell me that I was cruel for keeping them in the fluval edge, but she didn't seem to have the knowledge to explain why...is it cruel to keep them in this tank??

Hi, i'm thinking of adopting a main coon kitten, I have heard they can be big cats, How big can they get? I have a normal domestic cat and i would not like for her to feel intimidated in anyway, the maine coon i'm thinking of adopting is in need of a home and would love to give her one, the only thing holding me back is the size the maine coon may reach in adulthood, I would like to hear from maine coon owners please!

Do pure breed cats have a shorter life span,,I have heard that purebreds have genetic problems and are they more prone to illness because of genetic problems...do they live a shorter life then lets say a British shorthairs

my cat smartie is 16 years of age, is bright as a button, jumps and plays like a kitty, her mother Peps lived until 23 years of age with no health problems ever until she died two weeks ago, since she has died i have noticed my cat smartie to drink quite a bit, she also peed in the bath, which i have never known her to do, she is a very happy cat, she is playing with the cat post as i write this, she is a healthy weight with a little bit if a belly on her, she can jump up high onto the kitchen surface without hesitation.

what i want to know is do you think she may have a UTI, she is a lively cat and getting her to the vet would be a nightmare and i don't want to upset her unnecessarily, do you think i may be being a bit paranoid about her health because i have just lost my beloved Pepsi

M cat died two weeks ago due to old age, she reaches 23 years bless her.

Thing is i have two of her babies, there not babies they are 16 years and fighting fit, the thing is one of them seems to not be sure if she is coming back when she enters the room she goes to where my Pepsi used to sleep to see if she is there,

They never got on too well and stayed out of each others way, Pepsi remained the top cat right up until her death.

I know my other cat wants to assert her dominance, but is still not sure that pepsi is coming back.

How can i encourage her to come into the front room more and be a part of the family, she is so used to staying out of Pepsi's way that she still stays in my bedroom most of the day only coming down to poop or eat, maybe the odd cuddle.

I would love her to come into the front room more.

I lost my mother to breast cancer 3 years ago, and now i have just lost my childhood cat that i have had for twenty three years,

All i think about now is what's going to happen if i lose my dad or my fiance or my other two cats, i wake up in the morning thinking i am going to find someone dead and then i think about it what if it does happen, how will i cope with death again, i know it sounds as if i am a bit daft but i was wondering if i may be depressed and need to see a doctor.

What do you think??

my cat became really fat, my own fault really, i tried the diet stuff my vet gave her, she didn't like, so i got her a coller and lead and waited till late at night and took her around the block,, now if she see's the lead she comes up to me so i can put it on, i think she likes to go walkies.

i would like to hear any ones weight loss stories about their cat and and opinions on vet prescribed weight loss food,

My dad lives on his own now after losing my mother 3 years ago, he now keeps feeding all the local cats, these cats have homes they are not strays, i told him he is being a naughty, he keeps saying he might go down to the shelter an get a cat or a kitten, i know he would give it a very good and loving home and if ever he couldn't take care of the cat any longer, it would always have a home with me.

I'm really not sure what to do, what would you do??
