  • What does "I don't wanna know you that well" mean?

I work with a man that frequently says this. He only says it to male coworkers. He also makes it apparent to point out how straight he is, despite already having a wife and several kids. It comes across as somewhat homophobic to me. I understand he's from an older time and they say all sorts of weird things, but this doesn't seem exactly right. What do you think it means?

  • What's the deal with people asking about their lack of friendships?

The moment they say something along the lines of no one texting them or asking them to go somewhere, everyone jumps on them for being needy and selfish. But are they really? Are they expecting to be the center of other people's worlds, or simply asking to have someone, anyone, interested in having a decent conversation?

  • Why is "money doesn't buy happiness" considered true?

I understand the struggle with having no money. I know most of my personal issues would be solved with money. I don't want to waste it on pointless things, instead desiring a more comfortable living. I also have no use for relationships with others, so having decent money would provide me with plenty of things to do. Why does everyone else seem to think money doesn't solve everything? Why can't people just enjoy financial freedom instead of thinking of it as a replacement for love and happiness?

  • Is there a reason someone can't become an addict?

I'm not actively trying to ruin my life; it's just a sideline observation. I've tried several legal drugs, the unconventional and nearly harmless kind. Stuff like n2o and nasal decongestants. I've done weed before; while I love it, I couldn't see myself being a regular. I say the same for alcohol. In fact, I have only ever been drunk off moonshine, and I've had several different drinks. I hate cigarettes, but am an avid vaper. It's recreational and helps me stay focused. The weirdest thing is I had energy drinks almost daily, but quit cold turkey the moment I got bored. What's even weirder is most of my family is addicts. Do some people just lack the addictive gene? Is it all summed up in willpower?

  • What's the deal with human attraction?

It is my understanding that other animals rely on pheromones to attract mates. Meanwhile people pay attention to everything else. I think pheromones play a more subconscious role for us, while animals pick up on it easier. What's with the disparity in attraction?

  • How do you respond to "what's up," "how's it going" and similar statements?

It seems America uses these quotes as loose and informal greetings, masked by faux interest. I have answered these questions by simply stating how I'm doing or what's happening, yet I get no response. For someone who has lived here for years, this seemingly popular phenomenon still eludes me as much as it would any foreigner.

  • What is your stance on the philosophy of suicide?

Personally, I have to agree with it, at least in theory. However, it seems most self-death is done in the heat of the moment rather than methodically. People tend to use temporary issues as catalysts, rather than try fixing their problems some other way. Suicide is a personal choice, and as a result, offers the only real type of freedom. The choice to live or die, which is watered down by failed romance and other trivial endeavours. I feel this is partly to blame for the negative reactions to such a gruesome topic. This in addition to the fact that humans are selfish at heart, and therefore give human life a faux importance over all. Of course forcing someone to stay alive when they want otherwise is truly selfish.

  • How does the left side feel now that they can't say "not my president?"?

Seemed pointless to recite this, considering he wasn't your president when Obama was still in office a couple of months ago.

  • I have a question for intactivists?

This is actually a few questions mixed into one. I am very curious. Have you seen the movie Green Inferno? It's supposed to pay homage to Cannibal Holocaust, yet seems to use this as a catalyst to bash genital mutilation. But the thing is, it continually goes against FGM specifically. Why do they feel the need to use the arguments against male circumcision, but only for females? Is this movie a satirical stance on the double standard, or just a blind reinstatement of American pride and ignorance?

Also, for possible best answer: Why do people still flip out over such things happening in other societies, when the exact same thing is happening to males in their own country? The girl in the movie said she was interested in women's rights, not mentioning men at all. That isn't conducive to humanitarianism, right? Not to mention the fact that Amazonian tribes practising mutilation is a weird place to go as an activist, considering FGM is prevalent in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. You think someone passionate about stopping child abuse would go where the natural crime truly happens. It seems like lazy background checking, or just more American conditioning at work. What are your thoughts?

  • What's the worst thing about vaping that's happened to you?

I've had charge cords go out at random. Batteries not charging at random. Batteries emptying out at random. Clearomisers busting and slow leaking. Dry hits creeping despite fresh coils. Perfectly fine hits with no actual "hit" to them, i.e. ghost hits. Then to top it all off, my battery somehow managed to unscrew itself from the rest of the pen and jump out of my pocket. I have yet to experience exploding vape pens, or other insane things marketed by cigarette companies and its supporters, done by the few who have no clue how to vape. So what's your story?

  • Are you able to list a profession that accepts painted nails on males?

I am currently working at a decent job. But one issue, among a few, is that I can't wear polish. Even if it were accepted, the type of work I do doesn't allow the paint to stay on, even for a day. This includes clearcoat as well. Can you name a job that would provide a better alternative? I am thinking along the lines of art, but any basic jobs would work as well.

  • What's the deal with casino security guards honing in on players?

I can recall this happening in nearly as many movies as there have been casino scenes in movies. Typically it occurs when a casino player hits a winning streak, and they begin receiving nasty staredowns. Sometimes it happens on the grounds of them simply being in the vicinity. What is the deal with this occurrence? Is this yet another media cliche, or is it actually in the real world?

  • Why are Spider-man 3 and The Amazing Spider-man 2 the only heavily panned superhero films?

I know some villains were rushed in on these movies, but I think the characters were done well. While it felt crowded, who's to say it's not the same as any other superhero film with multiple main characters? Rhino wasn't really a villain in TASM 2 anyway, he was meant to be a setup. Nobody got upset when four major superheroes were squeezed together for Avengers. Then things got really insane with Civil War. I lost count with all the people in that one. Plus nobody questioned Suicide Squad, the one movie where there literally are too many villains. Batman v. Superman also feels like the most forced universal superhero film ever. I simply don't like the way they introduced all of the other superheroes at the end. So why does only Spider-man get all the hate?

  • Why does everyone seem to hate the Hobbit movies?

No one can go a sentence without comparing them to the apparently divine LOTR. They can't appreciate the fact that this guy wanted to adapt the prequel story into a film, but with a LOTR feel. They have to dissect the films not only for matching nostalgic films of their past, but also for not fitting entirely with a children's book, which is too short for the story of Bilbo and company. I feel there's too many fanboys who are really taking the director's efforts for granted. I didn't expect perfection myself, but I don't wish that they were made any differently. It was a triumphant melding together of a book and three films that I loved as a child.

  • What's the deal with insisting that "lesbians" are homosexual women?

That's not where the term originated. It is a demonym for people who hail from Lesbos, which is part of Greece. The poems written by Sappho should be irrelevant. I love pizza, but no matter how much I love pizza, I don't go around telling people that I'm Italian. Gay people who shove their sexuality in everyone else's lives is one thing. But supporting and reinstating a successful killing off of an entire island population, all because you want to get your attention in an already sexuality-specific group, that is very alien to me.

  • Why does everyone still count Grover Cleveland twice as president?

It seems rather arbitrary that you get counted again for serving nonconsecutively, but not for serving consecutively. Yet another rule backed by people who have no logical basis behind their argument. Why don't people just refer to him as the 22nd president, and move every other president over one? Or why don't they just count each term, regardless of whom it is, as a new president?

  • What exactly is this device called?

I'm looking for a desk mirror with a long neck. Specifically the type of neck that bends halfway at an angle, allowing several positions for the mirror and its particular stand. The closest I have discovered is a six inch mirror with a basic stand, and the neck doesn't bend at all. Where can I find the perfect desk mirror?

  • Where can you find protective CD film covers?

What I'm referring to is a sticky film, which is meant to be applied to the shiny side of a disc. It serves a similar purpose to a phone's screen protector. I saw packs of them in media stores many years ago, but now no one has a clue what I'm talking about. I have tried a product called d_skin, which snaps around the CD. This is not what I am searching for. I am not looking for protective sleeves either. I just want a basic, sticky, plastic film for CDs.

  • What are some great ways to get up in the morning?

I have always stayed up late, and still found a way to get up very early as a kid. But being out of school has messed up my internal clock. I am working on going to bed earlier, but that still doesn't stop my oversleeping. I get a solid ten hours. Sometimes I go longer. All I want are seven hours, which is all the average adult needs. I have tried countless things, including setting multiple alarms. I have purchased the loudest alarm clock, which comes with a bed shaker. I also have my phone hooked up to loud speakers, with multiple alarms from multiple apps set. My brain outsmarts me by making me just conscious enough to turn off all the alarms, then it kicks me back into sleep mode. One phone alarm runs a randomised mini-game brain teaser, and I ace them every time. I have now taken to using steel handcuffs, and stowing away the key on the other side of the room. My next challenge will probably be to throw my alarm clock in a cage that must be unlocked. The thing I think is most insane is the fact that I actually have the desire to be up within a decent amount of time. I hate prolonged sleep almost as much as a lack of sleep, but my body overpowers me. I am at a loss as to what I should do. I hate this, and it's actually terrifying.

  • How do you cope with psychological music torture?

The boss with which I work is obsessed with music, but in a different way from I. The main issue of mine is that he loves playing songs on repeat, then repeat again and again. He plays bands like Disturbed and RATM, but only has one song from each. That is repeat in a way, as I hear them just about every time he's at work. He just doesn't play those songs on repeat within a single day. But beyond trying to ruin music I appreciate, he insists on the majority of his playlist being stuff that already irritates me. I can tolerate bad pop or slow music in moderation. But when I hear the same exact song for hours on end, it really warps my sense of reality. Asking him to stop is out of the question, and I believe he may have actually fired someone in the past for questioning his ways. How exactly can I survive this and keep my sanity?
