Okay, here is the situation.

Recently Tobacco has seen a HUGE leap in cost due to ADDED taxs.

Additionally, alcohol has seen an increase in taxs and is expecting to see more.

Here is my question, regardless of your opinion on smoking or not smoking: 1st a Question (retorical) Did the people who smoke cause the current state of our economy? NO!!! While as Americans, smokers are (a part) of the situation, they did in not way do it themselves.

Then WHY is it that the smoker is being hit with the largest tax increase? Everyone is dealing with the California Sales Tax increase, (smoker included) so why did they NOT tax gas? It would make more sence, simply because there are MORE uses of gas than there are smokers.

It would have not only produced MORE tax dollars, but additionally, it would have SPREAD the burden of the tax load out more fairly to ALL AMERICANS, not just the people who smoke.

OH, and to those who say increasing tobacco & alcohol tax that it will assist in people quiting harmful behaviors and thus lowering the overall health care costs, which too often is at the tax payers cost, then I pose this as well. The #1 health issue in America is obesity. Why not tax the fast food industry?

So what is your opinion?

Am I the only person who is sick of chasing the almighty dollar?

How do i post a story

Okay so there is this Lady who has just recently come back into my life. We have been friend for many years and now, after 10 years of marriage, she is now divorced.

We talk on the phone and on face book. Now she has always been a very devout Christian. In fact, her ex is the only man she has ever been with.

Anyway, she talks about getting tattoos and smoking weed, which I have no problem with. However, she seems to mention it a lot and then went on to mention that (this guy she knows) delivers weed to his patients. Well medical weed don't work that way so I was concerned.

Anyway, I said to her that I was just concerned that she might be responding to a situation that she played no part in and had no control over. (her divorce) and that I wanted her to know that the more she smokes weed the more people who do so will come into her life and with that fact, the higher likelihood of meeting people who do harder drugs.

See, I deeply care about this girl and at the risk of talking on the role of (her big brother) rather than a potential romantic interest I felt that I needed to say what I said.

So, I need opinions from all of you.

How should I proceed?

what i found most interesting is that everyone was in agreement as to the guy having a past of jail.....a guy can quit smoking pot, drinking whiskey and being an a**, however he cannot deleat his past...so, am i to come to the conclusion that once a person gos to jail they may as well be dead?

is there no room for change?

can a person not be rehabilitated.

is there no redemption?
