  • Establishing paternity?

My step-son s father repeatedly tells him that he is not his biological son. That my wife cheated on him with her friend. He has been doing this since my step-son was born. Every time my wife has asked the court for a paternity test, he speaks up and says that he is now claiming the boy is his son. How can we get a paternity test granted when he continues to do this?

  • Leg injuries?

4 years ago I was discharged from the Navy due to medical conditions. Mostly because I fractured both knees, shins and feet. My doctor at the VA I went to, never did a thing for it, no pain medication, no physical therapy, no xrays, no anything. My legs haven't gotten any better. If anything they've gotten worse. Is it because there was nothing done for them? I've tried to do exercises to strengthen them, but nothing is really helping.

  • Questions about concussions?

I flipped a quad last summer, I was going pretty fast and tried to drift it and flipped, so when I landed I hit my head pretty hard. I received a concussion when I was 8, 18, and 19(2 in a 3 month period), and I also received one in a car accident 3 years ago. I'm fairly certain I received one when I flipped the quad, I just never went to the hospital and got checked because I don't have insurance. Since the last one I've had problems with my speech, motor skills, and it gets hard to stay on topic. There are times I have spasms, not seizures, when I finally went to get checked that got ruled out.

I have issues speaking and finding the right words to say so I've had to resort to pointing at what I am talking about and snapping my fingers.

I'm just worried that with the amount of concussions I've had, that something more serious may have occurred. I have a doctor at the VA nearby, I just don't know how to approach the subject.

Any advice on what I should say about it?

  • Seeking custody in NY?

My fiancee's ex is seeking residential custody of their 2 kids. He lives in NY, we moved to KS. Here the kids each have their own rooms because the older is 10 and is a boy and the younger 5 and a girl. At their father's house they have to share a bed in the living room of a 1 bedroom apartment. He gets the kids for 6 weeks of summer, and used to get 1 weekend a month when we were in PA.

Now that he is seeking residential, shouldn't he have a bedroom set up for each child? Or at the very least a bedroom with a sheet down the middle to separate the sides?

He also doesn't work, has disabilities that keep him from being able to care for the kids: i.e. he can't cook them dinner, can barely use a can opener, needs help washing clothes and cleaning his apartment, can't drive and doesn't have anyone that lives near him that can watch the kids when he goes to his court hearings or doctors appointments. HIs closest relative is 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours away.

  • If I file for bankruptcy?

I co-own 2 cars with my fiancee, both are completely paid off, never took out loans for either car. Both cars are also over $2000 in value. If I file, can they still take one of the cars even if I never had a loan out? My credit is so shot to hell, bankruptcy is the only way out it seems. Also, if I file, can that keep me from getting a student loan for school?

  • Need some help with questions on child custody?

Alright, my fiancee's ex-husband told their kids(ages 10 and 5) that I need to go for custody of the oldest. He's already made it clear that he wants nothing to do with his son outside of the 2 days a month/every other holiday and amount of time in summer he sees the kids(even when their up with him he outright ignores his son) but he wants to contact their daughter all the time. He claims their son acts more like my family then he does his own father. We have no issue keeping my step-son home, but we don't want my step-daughter going up alone. We have to fight them to go as is and the only reason my step-daughter goes is because they give her toys every time they're up there and let her do what she wants.

Honestly, what's the best course of action to deal with this?

I don't want/need any negative feed back. I'm looking for the best course of action for my fiancee so that neither child feels hurt(my step-son dislikes his father) and also so neither child feels an obligation to continue going because he is in fact their father.

  • How much will it cost to fix the traction system?

The Service Traction System light has been on in my 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS for months. I want to know how much it's going to cost to fix that.

My car also burns oil so I'm wondering what could cause that?

Brake light, ABS light, TRAC OFF light, check engine light, service traction lights are on, it burns oil, the guy who owned the car before me(original owner) took the catalytic converter off, both bumpers need replaced, the back window needs replaced, the wiring possibly needs redone(heat for back window doesn't work), the radiator needs replaced, a tune up needs done, and the muffler needs replaced(it's got a big *** hole in it). Is it honestly even worth it for me to fix everything?

Just need an estimate for the traction system and for anything else anyone knows of. Thanks.

  • 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT?

I've had this van for just over a year. It has NO power behind it anymore. It struggles to get up hill, to accelerate period. I've done a tune up, kept up with oil changes, all regular maintenance. I need to know what is going on. I took it to a dealership to have it looked at and all they said was what I already knew, which is no power. It needs a rear O2 sensor which is getting put on soon. That's all I've been told it needs so far. If anyone has worked on these or has had one do the same, can you please tell me what it is or what it could be?

  • Ex gave up visitation?

Two visits in a row because he has "no transportation." I was told, by the courts, to buy a reliable vehicle that could get me and the kids half way, he was told the same thing. He has already told me he might not be able to take them this month or next month. Should I just let it go until he does have a ride or a reliable car or should I take him back to court? I just worry that if he gets a ride for one day, he won't have it for the end of the visit.

  • Broken restraining order and PFA?

My ex broke a restraining order against him and a PFA(protection from abuse) and his mother has felony forgery charges pending against her. He is disabled and I know he is going to go to jail for breaking the restraining order because the man who got it against him was attacked by my ex with a 5 foot steel pipe. Would I be able to take his visitation rights away from him because he violated the order? My kids are scared to death of going to his house. He lives 3 1/2 hours away from me in NY and I'm in PA. They only see him once a month but they always fight me to go and they come home in tears each time. He hits them, calls them names, doesn't feed them, lays in bed, they have no clothes or beds and he refuses to heat the house so they can be warm. I have to send them with thermal underwear, sweats and normal clothes just so they can make it through one day with him. He makes them sleep on ceramic tile in sleeping bags. He called my son on Saturday screaming at him over a broken game system(PSP) because I traded it in at GameStop and got him a non broken PSP. Then he yelled at my son 2 days ago for asking for a bed. He told him, "You can have bed or Christmas presents. One or the other." I know he has to have adequate sleeping arrangements for them, but he doesn't. So, can I take his visitation?

  • How do you change your child's godparents?

My son's godfather is his uncle on his father's side. His uncle is always in trouble. He does pills, drugs, drinks, and does nothing when he takes my son to his dad's house. In all honesty they both ignore him and my daughter. How do I change his godfather? I don't need any snide remarks. If you knew this man you would do it too. All he does is yell at my son, hit my son, treat my son like ****. I'm sick of my son coming home from weekends with his dad and uncle and being in tears or hurting. How do I change his uncle from godfather?

  • My son wants to dye his hair?

He doesn't want to dye it an outrageous color, but he wants to dye it brown. He's 9 years old, is it safe for that to happen? His hair is blond, but the rest of us have brown hair so he wants it dyed. Looking for if it's safe or not to do at that age. Thanks.

  • Can I sue for back child support?

My ex was told by a judge to pay child support every month. He has a paper, and I have a paper, stating how much he is supposed to pay and when he should send the money. I told him for the beginning of the school year, the months with the kids birthdays, and Christmas, he could instead send so much to me and use the rest to buy them things they need/want...I haven't received anything for my kids since June. My kids went to NY with him for 5 weeks and I found out all the child support money went towards a new(er) car. Can I sue him for back support and possibly take the car since the money went to it? I mean, he's disabled, and not supposed to be driving anyway. His brother drives him everywhere.

  • Can I get a Protection From Abuse order?

My son and daughter went to their father's in NY for 6 weeks this summer, I just got them back last Friday and my 3 year old daughter is telling me every day her uncle hit her in some way. She won't sleep in her own bed, she has to sleep in mine and she is very clingy. She cries every time I scold her for hitting her brother. The kids were separated for the 6 weeks they were there, my daughter with their grandmother, my son with their father. Can I get a Protection From Abuse order for both of my kids against their uncle or not? My daughter is scared and I can't get a hold of my lawyer right now because they are out of the office.
