  • How does a Texas court determine "place of residence" upon death?

I want to file a relative s will in Texas because that is where he lived most of the year and where he called hom. But his death certificate says he resided in another state (his wife s preferred location). He owns property in each state and lived part time in each state. Can I successfully file the will in TX?

  • In a Maryland civil lawsuit, can I win actual damages for the value of my time the defendant's actions caused me to lose?

I paid Sears $500 for a diswasher in July. We have had 3 scheduled delivery dates and they have failed to deliver every time. I have spent 60 hours waiting for scheduled deliveries that never came, talking to various Sears customer service reps, and trying to work this out of court via the BBB. Aside from the easy win in court for a refund of the $500, am I likely to win compensation for my time? If so, what is the typical value for time in such lawsuits?

  • What do I need to buy to get tv through air signals?

I live 16 miles from many tv stations (all in the same direction). I'm in a townhouse, and I'd prefer to not have to run a cable from the roof... What all do I need to buy to take advantage of all these free signals and get rid of my tv bill forever?

  • Should I pay for professional printing of photos?

I just had some professional photos taken. My wife would like to pay the professional big bucks to get the photos printed "professionally". Our other option is to pay a smaller amount to buy the CD then print them at a cheaper place (perhaps Walmart). How much better (if any) will the photos turn out if we print them professionally? Will they last longer?

  • Are outside pipes covered by homeowners insurance?

My outside pipe burst (between the water main and my house). There was no damage to the my house, but the repair bill for the pipe came to $3,000.

I read through my insurance policy.... while it lists about 100 things they don't cover, none of those things were related to exterior pipes bringing water into the house. I called and they claim they don't cover this type of damage.

The house is in Virginia. Is this normal to not be covered? How can I ensure they are being honest with me?

  • What kind of ring did I buy in Hawaii?

I bought it at a tourist gift shop. I think it was rock (as opposed to metal), I assumed it was a rock from Hawaii but that could be wrong. It was black, but not completely solid black. It was $2.

I lost mine and I'd love to buy more.

  • Hole in yard with stream running through?

I woke up this morning to a hole in my yard with a stream running through it (underground). It was very cold and rainy yesterday through last night. The hole is about 2 ft wide and 2 ft deep. It is within 5 ft of an average size tree.

I'm in a townhouse with a small yard. I'm certain the stream also runs through at least 1 other neighbor's yard.

What do I need to do to fix this or get it fixed?

Might the HOA take care of this kind of thing?

Do I need to put up orange cones in the meantime (to avoid lawsuits when a kid falls in the hole)?

Is the tree in danger of falling?

  • Light Switch Wiring Confusion?

Trying to install a new light switch (a timer switch). There are 2 switches in the current spot. I'm replacing one (Switch A) with a timer and I'm leaving one alone (switch B).

The wiring comes from 3 'pipes' (not sure what to call the pipes):

    Pipe 1: black, white, ground

Pipe 2: black, white, red, ground

Pipe 3: black, white, red, ground

Switch A (that I'm replacing) was attached to Pipe 1 black (at the bottom) and Pipe 2 black (at the top).

Switch B is attached to Pipe 2 Red, Pipe 3 Red, Pipe 3 White, and Pipe 3 ground.

The new timer wants me to connect Red, White, Black, and ground. What do I connect where without blowing up my house?

  • What speakers can I get for TV surround sound?

Warning: I have no audio/tv knowledge so please be gentle.

My LCD has decent sound, but I want cheap speakers in the back of the room too for surround sound. I'm not looking for amazing sound quality (I probably wouldn't notice much difference). My TV has the following slots that may be useful:

PC: Audio In, Headphones, L, R, HDMI (currently leads to my cable box)

    Component: L, R, Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr

Control Firmware: RS232C Control Port, Firmware Upgrade Port

The Cable Box also has: Audio L, R (SD), Digital Audio, USB

Any recommendations for easy to install, affordable speakers are much appreciated!!

  • Should I buy a toilet or toilet tank?

My toilet tank cracked. 1995 Crane, standard 1.6 gallon. Is the base probably still good for many years to come? Should I just get a new tank or replace the whole toilet?

It looks like tanks run in the $60 range, toilets in the $250 range.

If I go for the tank, what specs do I need to know in order to make sure I buy the right tank?

  • Should I deal with potential mold behind shower?

I have a normal shower (covered with plastic or fiberglass... whatever the usual stuff is). I did not caulk the seems. Some mold started forming around the seams. It was easy enough to take care of that mold, but I imagine there is probably mold behind the shower covering as well.

Should I remove the covering and deal with it? If so, how do I do that? And can I reinstall the same covering or will I need to buy a new one? My other option is to dry it out the best I can and caulk the seams.

  • In volleyball is this tactic legal?

During the other team's serve, a player on my team placed his hand near the top of the net. The ball hit the net into his hand (no contact was made with the ball above the net). The ball didn't come over the net, but it might have had his hand not been there. Who wins the point?

I can't count this as an illegal block because no contact was made above the net. My best guess is that this is legal because i can't think of a rule that makes it illegal.

  • Outlook - How do coworkers in multiple timezones handle all day events in Outlook?

Microsoft Outlook displays my all day events properly to me, but my coworkers in other timezones see the events spread to an extra day. The same thing happens when they place an all day event on the calendar, it shows up covering an extra day on my calendar.

How can I get all day events to show up properly on everyones' calendar? I imagine there is a one time solution that is fairly easy... but I'd much prefer a permanent solution.

  • Can altitude sickness cause a bald spot in my mustache?

I was at 12,000 feet for 5 days and got some moderate altitude sickness... The most bothersome part was that when I tried to sleep at night, I felt like I was unable to breath right and kept waking up. I was also dehydrated the whole time even though I drank insane amounts of water. **I did take drugs for this also that helped a little: AcetaZOLAMIDE (DIAMOZ EQ)**

I noticed on about day 3 that I had a bald spot in my mustache. It's about the same diamiter of a pencil and is about 1/2 inch off-center and half way between my lilp and nose. Is this related to either the altitude or the drug?

  • Is using a tanning bed always bad?

I'm spending 1 week in the Caribbean next month. I have average skin and I'm happy to use plenty of sunscreen, but I still expect to get a minor burn during the trip.

Is it a bad idea to go to a tanning salon several times before the trip to get a base tan?

  • What do I need to know about buying skis?

I'm an advanced skier, but I've had the same equipment for 12 years... and I got it used back then. I'm on 190cm straight skis. I handle them well but would like to try the shaped skis now. Price and quality matter to me, style doesn't.

What size is appropriate (I'm 5'11, 165 lbs, expert skier)? What brands are good these days? What else should I look for?
