In a span of 9 months, I have reached the 7th level today. My heart is full of joy and I wish that others may reach this level soon. I am grateful to the askers for their challenging and intelligent questions, and their paying serious attention for evaluating the answers. I am thankful to the entire Y/A community, my contacts and the intelligentia. I bow to those volunteers who have taken up the task of resolving age old unresolved answers.

Is it respectful to address someone as 'dude' in e-mails ?

A large number of valuable answers are put to voting, because the one who posted the question ignored to decide which answer is the best. Primarily, it is the responsibility of the questioner to decide. He/she needed some information, advices, guidance for which several persons volunteered to help. The questioner has to decide, within a given time frame, the best answer.

Those who have volunteered to answer have applied their mind, time and energy for giving the best possible answer, out of their knowledge and experiences. They are bound to feel cheated and insulted when they find that their answer has been ignored by the questioner and has been thrown for voting.

I am of the view, that no answer should be put for voting. The questioner should be penalized, if they fail to decide the best answer

To foot the bill is to pay or settle the bill .What could be the connection between a bill and the foot ?

There are several types of roads,like cement road,metalled road,dirt road etc. But certain roads in rural area are known as WBM road. Will any one please tell me what these words stand for ?

My dog,Spitz breed,female ,6 yrs. has not been taking any food for the last 10 days and has gone very weak.After two days of stopping food intake,she was shown to a vet who said that perhaps she has worms in the intestine.Gluco-saline was given by drips.Fifth day she passed yellow stools of bad odour.Drips given again but still no food intake. She refused to even smell her choicest items.On seventh day, we consulted another vet, of great repute. He says she is scared badly and is in a state of shock.We had Diwali festivals in India recently when large amount of fire crackers are burnt. Some produce blasting and exploding sounds of more than 100 decibles. She might have been close to some high sounding cracker.For last 30 hours ,we are holding her in our lap and trying to talk sweetly with her so that she may get assurance that the humans are there to support and she should come out of her fears.All the dog lovers are requested to advice me, what else we can do .

In Indian epic Ramayana, one of the wives of King Dashrath was named Sumitra. I could not find out any mention of her fathers name or place from where she hailed. I request some learned scholar to help me.

Will someone kindly tell the difference between the meaning and usage of 'out of kilter', 'out of whack' 'on the blink'

My dog,Bholoo, a male Germen Shepherd of five years has been approaching me every night for biscuits.For the last ten nights I have noted that he comes to me precisely at 9.16 p.m.I cannot imagine that he is able to read the clock on the wall. I infer that dogs too have body clocks like humans.I will like to learn experiences of other owners of pets like dog, cat or birds.etc.in this aspect of animal/birds behavior.

In evenings when the temp. falls down from 29 degree cels. to 28 or less I start yawning repeatedly. The frequency is 15 or more yawns per 10 minutes. This lasts for nearly one hour,making my jaw joints painful.The period of yawning is more when I am outdoors.I could not understand the reason. Some friends say that since I smoke , my lungs crave for more oxygen.Others thought that when the temperature drops,whatever CO 2 has risen up due to heat,during the day comes down to earth level,resulting in reducing the ratio of oxygen. But then yawning effect should cover every one.Will any one kindly explain it ?

A person was trying to start his mobike and he had kicked the starting pedal some 35/40 times. I saw that the electric wire leading to the spark plug was out of place and hanging. I went to him and put the wire on the plug and the engine started. The fellow said "o.k. o.k. ' I know, I know " and went away. His behaviour was beyond my understanding. Please tell me what do you think of it.
