  • Threading a rifle barrel?

I have an old .243 savage model 10 that I want the barrel threaded to accept a .308 can or custom suppressor. Can most gun smiths do this? BTW I don't want to hear any legality issues, I'm working on the proper forms now. Nor do I want to hear a supersonic suppressor debate, there's a reason they make them, cuz they work.

  • is there such thing as too much lens for a canon t1i?

I have a canon t1i which I love and I was looking into buying a L series lens for outdoor/wildlife and I was just curious if its a waist of money to put a Canon EF 70 mm - 200 mm - F/4.0L USM on it. Is that lens better than the camera? should I just save my money and get the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS instead?

  • Whats a good shade tree without invasive or surface roots?

I live in zone 5 and this week is about the last for planting new trees but I'm having a hard time picking them. Like I said I'm in zone 5 I need a good shade tree 30-50 ft tall without loosing my yard and foundation to roots. I would like something that looks nice and has great fall colors. I see some trees around here that I really like, they are upright thick with small redish green leaves during the summer but no one I ask knows what they are. I would also like something fast growing if possible. What are some Ideas? I have a couple Redbuds I can plant but they don't really get thick enough to be a shade tree.

  • What to do about young non planted wind damaged tree.?

My brother just brought me over a 10ft autumn blaze maple tree from home depot, but he didn't take in to account the wind in the back of the truck, left it uncovered and now almost half the leaves are damaged and wilting. I pruned the broken limbs but don't know what else to do to ensure the tree will survive. It's still in its 7 gal pot should I wait to plant it, or go ahead? What other care can I give the tree to help?

  • what to do about settled dirt under concrete porch.?

The dirt and rock has settled under my front porch leaving a large gap between the concrete and earth causing small cracks to form. My question is what do I put under there to fill the gap and take pressure off the concrete? The gaps about 3-4 inches and I was thinking about buying some gravel and using a 2x4 to shove it under there and pack it in well. Do you think that would be good enough?

  • Do I need more ceiling insulation?

My A\C and Heater have problems keeping up in Hot\cold weather. Its summer now (I live in the Stl area) and when its 90+ sunny my house will not get colder than 80 degrees A\C going non stop. The A\C is putting out anywhere from 59-62 degrees and from what I can tell is sized properly. In my ceiling is blown in insulation at about 4-5" sitting just above the 2x4s some places more some less. The vaulted ceiling being a little more at around 6" Is this enough? Is my problem the Heating\Cooling unit or is there not enough insulation?

  • Good snake for semi experienced person?

I've owned a ball python for 2 years now, he was hard to get to eat at first but is doing very well now. Anyway I want another snake, not another ball python, and I need some ideas. so here are some things to consider.

    1. price: try and keep it under 200

2 eating habits: as adult I want it to eat rats because my ball does and it would make it worth raising my own.

    3. size: around 5 foot, again nothing that would eat anything bigger than a rat.

4 temperament: obviously something that wouldn't strike (willing to put in the time to work with it)

    5. habitat: I really don't care, dry wouldn't be a nice change. Humidity is the biggest pain with the snake I have now, but doesn't really matter.

I was thinking red tail boa would that be a good choice?

  • can a company force you to use a personal phone at work?

My wife currently moved into a shared office which there is only one phone which she can't always get to in time because its across the room and also has no voicemail so they started calling her personal cell phone which the number was passed out by a unknown current employee. They have made no comments on whether or not they'll compensate for minutes, they just blow her off when she asks. There is nothing in her contract that states she must have a cell phone or that she must use personal phones for business. She's worried that she'll get fired if she refuses to answer business calls, so what can we do? If we gave them a copy of the bill with highlighted business calls at the end of the month would they have to pay for them?

  • Has anyone else found that google map sucks?

It seems like every time I try to find a location by address it's always wrong, most of the time its just on the wrong side of the road or whatever, but lately its been off by 10 to 15 miles in some cases, Yahoo seems to be much closer almost all the time, don't they pull from the same maps? Also my subdivision is 7 years old but according to google and yahoo it doesn't exist, why does it take so long to update?
