Can someone lead me thru active desktop recovery?

Usually restoring active desktop MS provides a clickable link but I have nothing to click and no idea how to restore my desktop

Try this:

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del. Select Applications and then press New Task. Type "explorer.exe" and OK. This should retore your desktop.
