What are your feelings on President Bush looking at EVERYONE'S phone call records since 9-11?
I should have said Pres Bush's staff, not him personally.
It was announced on Good Morning America this morning. Thanks for your input.

Unconstitutional is all. Of course disregarding the constitution has never been a problem for Bush. He has broken both domestic and international law and I hope that someday he has to answer for it.

President Bush is NOT looking at "everyone's phone call records since 9-11". Neither is his staff doing this either. What the law does is give them a RIGHT to look at phone call records IF it helps to catch a prospective terrorist.
The whole point to this is to stop terrorists BEFORE they can do something. It's easier to stop something before it starts than to sit back, wait for something bad to happen, and then react to it.
In the case of President Bush, he cannot win. If he does proactively put measures in place, they go after him for "invading our privacy". If he doesn't put measures in place, then he gets murdered in the press because he didn't do anything to stop terrorism.
All this is about is the democrats trying to use every situation to win votes in the upcoming elections. They don't have any better answers so they run down the president thinking they will get votes and be elected.

You people make it seem like president Bush himself is going through billions of phone records for his own enjoyment. It's not as if anything you said was recorded unless you were a suspect, the Intelligence community is probably trying to track down a few people that they want to look for but reserve the right to look at other peoples records to try and triangulate terrorists, if you are not a terrorist then zip it and let the country protect you.

First off, he's not looking at EVERYONES phone records. He hasn't checked out mine and probably hasn't checked out yours, unless you have ties to the foreign lands we are against. I don't think that Americans know what they want anymore...you complained that we didn't have enough security when 9/11 happened, and then when airport checks got more intense...everyone got upset because it takes too long. Now the phone record thing...same thing. You want security in America, then stop complaining about the measures taken to get it. The President and his people don't care about you having a conversation with Billy-Bob down the road...most likely, unless you are involved with some terrorist group, your phone is not tapped and is not being checked. Get over it already!

I doubt he has looked at everyone's phone calls - with more than 200m Americans, he wouldn't even have time to sleep much less do anything else if he did that! More like he has the ability to check everyone's phone records but I suspect his underlings are only looking at the more suspect calls. I know the NSA has software that is capable of picking key words and phrases mentioned in calls and these are the ones that are selected for closer scrutiny, along with calls to suspect numbers, etc.
I am not American but it would not bother me if the British Government decided to do the same thing. I have nothing to hide.
