Windows XP slowing way down, tried fixing it and it slows down even more?
Trying to figure out how to speed this sysytem up. I tried stopping all programs from start up but it just seems to slow the system even more and now i am just trying to get it back to what it was. Any suggestions? main problem is that programs keep freezing up, i.e. IE, messengers and the like. I am tired of the problems on this computer. My other comp works fine and speed is great but this one just slows even more with each day that passes.

Try deleting all the programs you don't need. Also be sure to delete all the trial and sample software that came preinstalled on the computer. This usually includes lots of stupid games and trail programs that you have to pay for. These will slow your computer down a lot. Be sure not to delete things you don't know about and also restart the computer after removing some of the programs. Also get Spybot Search & Destroy and use it to remove all adware and spyware on the computer; it's free. Be sure you have a good antivirus program, update it, and run it.
