I have a Radio Shack 1650 Sensory Chess Set by Scisys. What does the "2ND F" button do?

If any of the buttons are labeled with 2 items such as "Level/Verify" you would push the "2nd F" button then the "Level/Verify button to operate the "Verify" part of the button....meaning you would now be able to "verify" where the pieces are on the board in case they got bumped.

The 2nd F stands for "second function" and simply allows the buttons to do two things. This cuts down on the number of buttons needed. Kind of like a "shift" key on your computer keyboard except you don't hold it down while pressing another button at the same time.

I hope this is making sense. In other words, some buttons are labeled with 2 functions. You simply press the "2nd F" key if you want the buttons to operate their 2nd thing they're labled. If there is a display on the unit, when you press "2nd F", you should see "2nd F" on the display to let you know you are in that mode. To leave that mode simply press ""2nd F" again and it should not show on the display.

I hope this was helpful and I hope you will enjoy your chess computer. I have 3 and love them all! Good luck and "castle early!"

Bellybutton lint can often become electrostatically charged. This, over time could create that mild fragrance of overinsulated ozone that your standard Radio Shack emits. Either that, or one has been trying to plug one's portable DVD player into one's navel using the car battery attachment.
