Any one an overweight runner?
I'm a big girl and want to start running. Do any of you "big girls" out there have any suggestions? Thanks!

1. See a doctor before beginning!
2. Start with a walking program beginning with a mile and in a couple months working your distance to 4 miles.
3. Then consider a running workout slowly building it up to a sutainable distance and pace.
health and injuries are your biggest worries, so Gradual is your by-word.

i'm not a big girl but im a big boy. actually not that big anymore...
i started running about 1 1/2 years ago weighing 318. I started off slowly, running about 1-2 miles about twice a week. Go with a slow pace, something comfortable that will enable you to complete your run. if you need to walk, walk but always make sure to finish your goal. dont let it discourage you.
about 3 months into it, i was taking 4 mile jogs around the neighborhood 3 times a week, resting every other day. I'm proud to say that along with a better diet, im down to 197 lbs.

I used to be really hefty person, but running made me better, I suggest you start off slow, even walk at first. Cardio vascular system (your heart) is what you will be lacking, breathing and things. So I suggest to start slow, and start speeding things up gradually. Do not over exert yourself! You don't want to cramp up, make sure you stretch properly before you walk/jog/run. Always set a goal, and be ambitious to get to that goal.
I set a goal to run to my bank, which is 5 miles from my house.
I walked like 1 mile and I was panting, but each day I try to go further. Eventually I can walk to my bank! Next I speed walked, and jogged, and ran after that. Slow but progressive. You know your body the best so set a limitation, and always carry some water or some sports aid drink!
Run and be happy!

Start slow, even just power walking at first until you get strong. Running can put a lot of stress on your joints. (Footballers and Baseball players can be fast as Heck and they are usually pretty hefty so you know you can be fast at any size!) You want to take it easy at first because you may develop shin-splints or runners knee and forever be turned this great form of exercise. It has taken me years to enjoy running and I still have days where I get achy from it. Good Luck! I weigh 135, not too big but not too small!

I compete (nicely run in) a lot of races - one a month - and those races have a lot of runners all amassed mutually in a unmarried position and are a sturdy position to work out the shapes of the runners. at the front row each of the tilt imagine runners collect and then a behind all of them the traditional human beings collect. From what I extremely have seen runners are available all shapes and health stages in a race. it is genuine even if that the added you run then you definately are in all probability to change into leaner and healthier
