Help, I very confused as to what color to paint my family room. I have hard wood floors that are a medium golden tone. I glass tables with dark wood table legs, a painting on my wall with a dark wood frame, my table lamps have a deep chocolate base with a ivory shade. My living room has a window that opens up to the kithen. In that window I have one of those dark wood accent pieces that say's "believe. My furniture is microsuede and is a soft beige. I painted it a very soft yellow but feel as if it does not match with anything. I was considering painting it red because it opens to the kitchen and the kitchen has a cerry theme going. But I don't know if that will be too dark. Any ideas, please help. Thank you!
I would paint it a carmel color. it would match the beige couch and the dark furnature perfectly. They you could paint the baseboards red. Painting the whole room red is really bold and dark, and it kind of freaks people out when they first see it. (my sisters bedroom was red. it was awful) Plus it's impossible to paint over. But if you want to be very bold and very shocking go for it! Red would still match the furnature.
If you like red, then go with red, You'll enjoy it much better than choosing a color someone else may like, or that is a "nowhere" color that says nothing. People seem to be afraid to use color, & stick to the same ol' beiges, tans, browns, golds, creams, etc. It shows no creativity, imagination, or personality. Be yourself with your colors - dare to be different!
Yeah I don't think red because it would be too much, but you need some sort of color because everything else is just beige and dark brown and white. Maybe you should try a coral, tourquoise, or sky blue actually lavendar would look nice.
Red is very brave of you...lol If that is your personality, then go for it. Yellow sounds nice, maybe a brighter or darker shade? I personally like shades of green. It goes well with wood and its a relaxing color. Maybe a yellow green, like harvest gold from SW is one of my favorites. You can always repaint, but red is a harder color to cover. How about using red on just one wall for a great accent. Good luck
