What color should we paint our family room?

I guess light blue or maybe blue only could be nice for your family's room .. It may look outstanding :) Or maybe gold :) It is also a nice color for the family room ;) If i suggest i think those 3 colors are nice for it :D

well, I would honestly say that you already have a lot of color going on there so I would take a very creamy white or light beige and do that in the family room. Then make that room your canvas for accessories and bright prints or paintings that bring together the other colors that you see in the other rooms. If you notice in magazines they will typically have very pale color rooms and the furniture and lamps etc seem to POP so much more. There is a color by benjamin moore called Muslin white? I may have that wrong, but it is a very classy pale cream. go do a search and find a room using that color. Good luck.

I'm guessing reddish means either slightly darker or lighter, so you could go one of two ways:

If it's darker red, try keeping the family room lighter. Go with a lighter tan or beige.

If it's a lighter red, go darker. Get into coffee colors or dark woods.

If reddish means, like RED, then you don't want a bold color to clash. Choose lighter (not brighter) neutral tones.

As far as the green color- don't make it like pastel- keep it within lime to forest green. Pastel greens will not go good with red, no matter if it's light or dark. Also, if it's too blue-toned it will make that red and tan/coffee/beige color look like white (eg- red, white and blue).

I think you should paint the family room the light green color...then add accents in the reddish and maybe dark green.

Like a multi color area rug with greens and the reddish color.

Art work on the walls and throw pillows will also add color.

I would not choose a 3rd different color. I think the rooms would flow better using the light green.

it depends on the floor color in the family room. if it's wood, what type? a yellow wood? dark brown? orangey? if it's carpet, what color? personally i think a yellow-apricot wall color could be nice and tie all the rooms together, but i don't know what furniture you'll be using. that's another thing to consider along with any artwork you plan to hang on the walls.

oh and remember to mix in a clear glaze for the sponge effect (2nd coat). if you don't use glaze, chances are the effect will look amateurish. I speak from experience. Ask a paint store for their most affordable glaze. "Clear Difference" is one example.

My advice would be a light neutral earth tone color to blend the 2 dark colors.

It sounds like your palette is on the warm side. I think a light tan/beige color would make the colors flow and is very neutral so you can accent it with any color you plan to use i.e. your sofa, chairs etc.

to make the space look as big as possible, try a tan, a cream, or even white with a cool stipe color used with left over paint from another room. look at the home depot....thats where we get all of the paint, home stuff like sinks, ladders, lawn mowers, etc.....and i highly recommend it in customer service also look at your furnitue what color is it?? If its the reds, pinks, orange, yellows...then try a light yellow paint. If your funiture is green, blue, violet, purple...then try a light blue, a light green. Or if you have black, white, grey colored furniture...try a white wall with black stripes or grey stripes. tan will work with any furniture... look at this site to preveiw colors, view them in rooms, and more
