I am shopping locally for a used car under 8000, looking for a hatchback or wagon/small suv?

Do you drive a car in the category that I am looking in, and would you buy it again?  What do you like about your car, and what problems do you have with your car?  I am not asking if you have a car for sale, so please don't try to sell me one here, I am only looking for recommendations for a good car in the category I am looking in.  Thanks in advance for your answers....

I've owned Honda Civics and know people who owned Toyota Corollas, these are very reliable cars that are easy and cheap to maintain and repair, and they are very reliable, a good first car for a woman
