It sets a standards for the Bears' players, that if you misbehave, then you are gone. They don't want to fall in the deep hole also known as the Cincinnati Bengals, whom didn't know how to discipline their players.
In terms of the effect on Sunday, it will hurt them unless they sign a free agent very quickly, Shaun Alexander comes to mind, he is old, but its not like Cedric Benson was any better.

Good move, he was a 4th overall pick and an underachiever. The Bears need to make an example of players who have bad behavior off the field in order to clean up the game and eliminate a distraction. Benson has all the opportunities and never did anything to even show some potential of being good. Bears need to consider charachter along with talent in drafting.

Hi Cookie,
He was drafted in the 4th spot. So I believe that it's not too much to ask that he be a great player, leader, and teammate to the guys on the team. Obviously, he is not, to good move by Bears Managment

Not no, but H-- no! If New England can keep the pill popper, then Chi-town can keep Cedric.
