I have had braces for 28 months with an ortho where staff has no professionalism or compassion for their patients. I will not discuss all the details but the only reason I have stayed is because I didnt want my treatment to delayed. So I stuck it out. They changed ortho doctors like 5-6 times which delayed my treatment anyway because they all started different things on me. Finally, I have had it. The new doctor is a jerk and watches TV while he is working on me. I really want to change ortho doctors but is that a good idea. Any ortho experts out there- can you give advice. I already payed about $2500 and its all paid off. So really I will have to pay more money which was another reason I didnt leave. But I am willing to pay more as long as these braces come off soon. My teeth are straight already with a couple of gaps but I can't stand the service anymore. I know other people whose teeth were worse and they have theirs off already.

Let's go from where you are now: Ugh! What's done, is done. You'll soon be labeled a 'floater' by dentists. If you're lucky enough to be near a University Dental School, GREAT! Go there for expert correction with proper care. + sensible cost. If not, be SURE you speak straight-out to any orthodontist BEFORE you agree or sign anything! Don't gripe about previous docs; talk about what your present problems are & listen to what the 'new' doc says BEFORE accepting his care. [You can always say you saw the previous orthodontist 'out-of-town' but need attention now.] The 1st visit probably will be free or cost very little. Take time to speak with his attending staff! See if you feel comfortable before saying 'ok'. Whoever you do finally accept, make sure YOU do what you're told 'to the letter'. Leave no room for mistakes on your part... Good luck!
I would get a second opinion from another ortho, and contact your states dental board about the quality of care you are receiving. There may be other complaints. It sounds like this is not a 'private' office but rather a 'franchise' --- if it is a private office then the owner or head dentist is who you need to speak to and tell of your dissatisfaction. If it's a franchise - call the main office and speak to someone there. You may also be able to contact the Better Business Burea (sp) and also your state's attorney's office -- they may help you out and help you get some of your money refunded to continue care elsewhere. I've never heard of an office going through so many dentists in such a short period of time. That is a bad sign.
You're paying money to this guy, so you have an opportunity to pay hardball. Tell him specifically what it is that he's doing that bothers you (ie. watching TV while working on you). Tell him that this behaviour makes you very uncomfortable, and that you want him to change it or you're going to take your money elsewhere. Then, if it doesn't change, take it elsewhere.
You don't have to be mean or rude about it. Just be polite and clear. Remember: you're paying a lot of money to get your teeth straightened, and you deserve better service than what you're getting.
PS. If you do have to go elsewhere, and money is tight, consider getting your teeth finished at an orthodontist school. Don't worry, they have real orthodontists who are supervising as teachers, so everything will get done right. I got my teeth done at the orthodontist school on the University of Toronto campus, and it was much cheaper and my teeth came out perfect.
First off permit me say that I'm a 3rd yr dental pupil. TMJ problems are a foggy field for dentists. almost always we do not recognise what triggers it, why it occurs, or why it might probably out of the blue clear up itself. Since there's a few thriller to TMJ issues, it's feasible that the filling precipitated a few difference. When you chunk down, does it believe top? If your entire tooth come in combination the identical as earlier than the filling, then your dentist adequately introduced the occlusion in combination. If it feels top, permit her recognise. I have no idea what precisely used to be performed, but when it used to be a filling with both enamel coloured resin or silver amalgam, it's not likely that she did something mistaken. You had been correct in consulting a moment opinion, I've visible a few dangerous restorations. I desire you spot my recommendation as a moment opinion and now not as lies from the enemy (I recognise there's a few animosity closer to my career.)
Move orthos, this guy doesn't sound good at all. I'd switch orthos, take all your info over there, and they can either take your braces off, or continue with your treatment plan.
