Help with plants?

I have two courgette plants that I need to move apart (they are far too close together) . I fear that the roots may tear when i try to move them, do you have any advice on how to pull them apart?

I would also say don't disturb them for fear of tearing or otherwise traumatizing the roots.

But if you are determined to try, gently lift out the entire rootball and place in a large clear glass container with enough water to cover the rootball plus several inches to spare. As the soil loosens from the roots, gently disentangle the intertwined roots UNDERWATER.

Once separated, gently place each separated plant into its newly prepared hole, cover loosely with soil and water.

Good luck!!! =]

I wouldn't disturb them. Disturbing the plant can weaken it, making it more susceptible to disease and pests, and reducing yield. Just remember when you plant them next year to plant them farther apart.
