What are some good must have shots for the wedding photographer?
Our photographer is letting us give her a list of some shots that we definitely want. I'm running out of ideas on poses and stuff and thought I would see if any of you have any favorite poses? Thanks!

I like the pictures that show the bride looking into a mirror (taken from an angle where you see her and her reflection).
Try some funny poses like the groomsmen holding the groom on his side, and then do the same with the bride!
I also like the photos of getting dressed....like the mother buttoning up the dress for her daughter and putting lipstick on her. Get the groom's father putting the grooms' tie on or straightening it....something like that.
My cousin's wedding photographer had the bride stand on one side of a door and the groom stand on the other with their hands touching at the frame. She had them lean to have their cheeks brush against the door panel and she took the picture so she could see both of them.
I had a picture done where I had on my cowboy boots with my wedding dress since I ride horses alot. I didn't actually wear them down the aisle, but it is a great picture.
I am a freelance photographer, and I have done many weddings in the past. I tend to agree with your professional that you hired, having a second hired photographer at your wedding will mean that your photographers will have to worry about getting in each others way, as well as possibly being a burden to your wedding party, having to sit through two shoots. This is something that should have been planned before hand and not thrown at your first photographer at the last minute; I would agree that its not really polite. Not only are you interrupting your first photographer's work flow, but it's almost as if you you are saying that he or she can't do the job well enough, and that you don't trust their work. If you really feel you need two photographers at your wedding, maybe you should have asked your hired photographer if he has a partner or a photographer that he has worked with before. I know there is nothing in the contract that says you can't hire two or three or ten photographers, but if I was in his position, I would be annoyed as well.
It might be a little hard to find, but the June 2008 issue of Practical Photography mag has a section about wedding photography, and in it there is a suggested list of 14"must have" shots. The list is The dress Getting ready The Groom and ushers Bride arriving Bride walking down the isle The ceremony Signing register Throwing confetti/rice The happy couple The guests cutting the cake Speeches First dance incidentals A pretty good article geared towards the serious amature who's asked to shoot a wedding for a friend. This is their basic list, more info in the mag, or maybe in their online edition.
Well make sure she gets lots of pictures of the actual wedding cermony. Some of the best pictures are ones that are not posed. Pics of you walking down the isle with your father and your father giving you away can be come of the cutest. Pics of the groom waiting, and the flower girl throwing petals.. Pics of your FIRST KISS as man and wife, exchanging rings and DEF if either of you cry (my hubby blubbered like a baby and we got some awesome pics of it! lol) Then of course the posed ones of you and your hubby and the whole bridal party. Do funny ones and serious ones and ones where you are with parents and without parents and just include EVERYONE!
