Traveling to El Salvador... Airline and Passport Questions?

Okay I have a passport which expired in 2001. I haven't traveled to El Salvador since 1999! My passport has my maiden name. Do I need to take my marraige licence?

Next question is, I have 2 kids. I had a baby out of wedlock, his dad is willing to give me a permission or what not so my son can travel out of the country. I do have full custody of my son and have the court ordered documentation to prove it, does his dad need to go with me to get his passport.

My daughter is 14 months, I am maried to her father, only thing is he doens't have "papers." I am traveling alone with my 2 kids.

The Airline question... most likely I will be travling with Grupo TACA! I cant get a hold of them to ask them this question... my daughter has asthma... and El Salvador is well and asthmatic worst nightmare. So I will need to take her medications, question is can I take her nebulizer in a luggage. Before anyone says anything, the reason Im taking my daughter is because my husbands grandfather is very old and very anything happens he wants to meet her, unfortunantely his grandmother passed away when I was pregnant.

Thanks everyone!!!

If your passport expired in 2001, then you need a new passport. You can't travel on the old one, so you can get the new passport with your married name.

You can obtain a child's passport without both parents being present, but there are documentation requirements. You can read them at the US State Department website at this link: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/minors/minors_834.html

If you are traveling without both parents present, then it is a good idea to carry notarized permission from the missing parent. According to the State Department:

"In an effort to prevent international child abduction, many governments have initiated procedures at entry/exit points. These often include requiring documentary evidence of relationship and permission for the child's travel from the parent(s) or legal guardian if not present. Having such documentation on hand, even if not required, may facilitate entry/departure."

Your daughter's asthma inhaler should be okay as there are many exceptions made by the TSA for medically-required products. If it contains more than three ounces, then it may be a good idea to carry a note from her doctor stating that it is medically necessary.

TACA's phone number is (800) 400-TACA.

Yes it does. The flight is operated by TACA but you buy it with American Airlines. When you arrive to the airport they will send you to do the check in in a TACA counter and probably you will aboard a Taca Plane. I don't know why they do that. That's why TACA sucks to me. No matter what ur boarding pass says, you always will go directly to El Salvador.
