Would a house for sale that does not include a refrigerator prevent you from buying?
Our house is due to go on the market tomorrow and I really don't want to include our new refrigerator because it's not even paid for yet. It's one of those ones with the french doors, ice maker and freezer on the bottom. All of the other appliance in the kitchen are new also, but they are paid for. I've seen listings for homes that don't include a refrigerator, but I'm wondering what the average person would think. Would this prevent you from buying the house? Thanks!

Thinking back over the houses I've owned, I can only remember one that came with the refrigerator. Most of the time, we've either moved the one we owned (and what a pain that was!) or bought a new one to go with the new house.
I wouldn't worry about this turning off prospective buyers. Just make sure, as others have already mentioned, that your listing states VERY CLEARLY that the refrigerator is not included in the sale.
I'd go buy a Nice , used refrigerator and put it in the garage etc and on the listing make it clear that the fridge in the kitchen is going with you and the one in the garage stays with the house ...
However; i would not ... NOT buy a home because it did not have a refrigerator as I have my own appliances OR perhaps like I'm about to do now ..I want to get all stainless steel appliances when my home sells and I move .... so I'd just have to get rid of the appliances left in the house anyway .
I believe the agent's fee is included in the price - when I sold my house five years ago, i had a solicitor looking after everything, including paying the agent; he simply deducted the fee from the sale cheque from the buyer and his own fee before forwarding the remainder to me. I'm not really sure if this answers the question properly, as I know two people who did just that - offered to pay the agents fee for the seller, so as to bring down the house price below a certain ceiling.
In Houston, Tx buyers do not expect a refrigerator to be included. To be sure you should disclose the fact that the refrigerator is not includes. Your real estate agent can show you how to do this.
if your worried, you can buy a cheap refrigerator and include that in the price. But I wouldn't worry. I would buy a place without a refrigerator. They are not that expensive and that way you can pick out the one you want anyway.
