AR-15 assault weapons ban question?

If I purchase an AR-15 lower receiver on the Internet today and the customer service representative tells me that I will get it delivered to my FFL dealer in 10-12 months because they are so backordered. And let's say that Mr. Obama and Congress ban "assault weapons" permanently 6 months from now. Will my order be canceled or made illegal?

You you need to read the specific language of the bill.

Are you actually trying to nitpick this? You maniac! So what if the weapon was legally purchased? That is the point! Yes, the mother bought the gun legally. Yes, like so many other gun owners she was killed with it by her own son. We still haven't dealt with the terroists of the NRA whose deliberate actions have prevented any real gun control from protecting law abiding citizens from terrorists or the mentally unbalanced. That you should dare to nitpick about what kind of gun was used shows how stupid you are! Ignorant nitpicking will end up getting even more kinds of weapons banned. The Second Amendment guaranteed you access to a flintlock musket, and if you can't grow the sense to see that modern weapons in unstable hands are a greater danger to the nation you don't deserve anything more deadly. Fine, then, if you insist we will ban everything more complicated than a musket. Happy now?

Well for starters, an AR-15 is not an "assault weapon" or an assault anything. The Armalite Model 15 clone you can buy on the self is a semi-automatic rifle.

Intriguing. First, don't go with a company that will take that long to deliver. That is insane. There are many great resources already listed. If it is just a hypothetical question, then it would depend on the wording.

Nobody knows for sure what the h3ll is going to happen to us...I just pray we are all a bit paranoid, but it is wise to prepare. The sh!t is most defiantly going to hit the fan and it is going to smell really bad for a really long time.

Lock and load. Keep your powder dry.

No body can say for sure. Depends on the wording of the ban. Last time it went off of the manufactured date. There are some on gunbroker.com that are in stock. Why would you backorder one for a year. I could have bought three at a gun show last month.
