Don't get me wrong they're both good stories but they've kinda been beat to death and I'm looking for something new. I also just finished the Mortal Instument Trilogy and The Percy Jackson series. Both of which I loved.

hmm.. I loved the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy saga if you're into that kind of thing,the dragon keeper trilogy is great, but more directed at younger people (10-14) and i really like "the host"; same author as Twilight, but less controversial and as not been "beaten to death" although popular and a very good novel.

The Hunger Games is pretty good. It's by Suzanne Collins. It takes place in what used to be North America, and is now just one country called Panam, and every year each 'city' has to send two teenagers as tributes to fight in a televised fight to the death. - The sequel comes out September first.
The only other author I can think of isn't exactly a YA author, but if you like suspense thrillers that NEVER end the way you suspect, and series you can read in any order, and all the books (series or not) have at least one thread connecting them trying reading anything by Ted Dekker. Some of his stuff is 'Thr3e' 'Blink' 'Skin' 'Bonemans Daughter' 'Kiss' 'Saint' 'Sinner' 'Showdown' (those three are a series, only Showdown comes first) The Circle Trilogy (Black, Red, and White) and so much more. He's my favourite author hands down bar none.

If you want something totally different try Dangerous Days by Australian author J. William Turner. This is adventure & suspense fiction told in four separate but connected stories inside the one book cover. The main character is a teenage boy, but there are several strong and important teenage girl characters, especially in stories 2 & 3.

Try the Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix. One of my favourites.
While I too like the Sookie Stackhouse series, I must say do not take it as a suggestion (given by the answerer Courtney Lou below me), since it is quite graphic ADULT fiction.
