Do you really believe America landed on the moon 40 years ago?

if so, state your point
if not, why? what leads you to feel that.

Why should I believe it? I know that it must have happened, because there is no gap in the evidence that must be filled with blind faith.

The real question is: Which evidence on this planet would prove the thousands of pages of technical documentation (including the blueprints, which never had been really lost, as many copies exist) are faked? Why did NASA produce rock-solid technical documentation before the moon landing? You can plug the numbers into formulas from basic spaceflight lectures (all take you 6 months of your life, and make you think that cooking Lasagna is rocket science) and actually find out, that NASA designed the rockets too carefully. Today you would use less reserves and expect less residuals.

Also, they released the first photographs of the Apollo landing site by the LRO last weekend, all already showing the remains of the mission, despite still being at three times lower resolution (1.4m) than the camera will have after the calibration.

And BTW to all flag fetishists: Flags moving when and shortly after an astronaut was holding it with his hand, does not have wind as only exclusive explanation. Even a three year old child would first guess that the astronaut is moving the flag.

Yes. All historical evidence shows that it happened.

But let's take a moment to just think about the hoax theories. So, NASA is able to fake the program (for which there were plenty of opponents, both domestic who thought it was wasteful, as well as the Soviets who would have loved to embarrass us) with thousands of people and keep it a secret for 40 years? No one's been able to find evidence of it being faked in 40 years? No one who worked on it got disgruntled and gone public? In a world where 2 people cannot engage in oral sex in the privacy of the Oval office can't be kept secret, when we keep getting leaks on the Bush administration's actions in the War on Terror... in that world, such a huge secret, with so many having an interest in exposing it, that is kept secret? I don't think so.

And for those answers that are "just asking questions"... Asking questions is the first step, and never a proper answer. You then have to investigate it. But it is so much easier to say "huh, I don't get it. Must be fake" than to actually investigate it.

And as for all the "the flag was waving" answers, here's the challenge to offer yourself.... the answer offered up is that the flag and pole were manipulated by the astronauts, and very quickly settled when left alone. So, find us one bit of film where the flag waves independent of astronaut manipulation. One bit where the only answer is "wind".

Want to know if there is any validity to the hoax? Watch that last question... you won't get any answers, but the same people will make the same claim again and again. Evidence means nothing to the hoax advocates, which is the only way they can believe what they do.

There's nothing to "believe" or disbelieve, it's an historical an unalterable fact that men have walked on the moon.

Frankly, you should be ashamed for asking this question on the 40th anniversary of the first ever moon landing. Instead of celebrating an immense achievement by humankind, you choose to rekindle a ridiculous and silly conspiracy theory.

ATTENTION CRETINS- FLAGS CAN WAVE IN A VACUUM. IN FACT THEY WILL WAVE EVEN MORE THAN IN AN ATMOSPHERE BECAUSE THERE IS LITTLE OR NO FRICTION.

TrevGauntlet - did you actually watch Mythbusters? It was obviously beyond your ken to do so, as you would be aware that they exposed the moon conspiracy as a MYTH, hence the name MYTHbusters.

Yet further proof that most moon conspiracy proponents simply blindly regurgitate the nonsense that others have published.

Yes they did.
How could NASA fake something like that?
The stars next to the moon didn't show up on film because it's a typical effect with photography - the moon was too bright for the comparably dim stars to show up.
There are moon rocks that have been brought back.

It's an historic fact that Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the moon 40 years ago today. The so called evidence that it was a hoax doesn't hold up to scrutiny.
