Having trouble deleting an object in Second Life?

Ok, I just finished a grid-wide hunt in Second Life and I received a lot of nice clothes, furniture, pictures, etc from the hunt. However I'm having a lot of trouble with one of the items I received.

It's called a Shining Star and I rezzed it in my apartment assuming it was box containing something. Instead I got a star that flies around the apartment. I haven't been able to de-rez it and I've tried every trick I know.

First the star is difficult to "grab" to edit since it flies around, but after a few tries I am able to snag it. I'll select "take" from the menu and it returns to my inventory, but immediately another copy of the star is generated and flies around. I've tried attaching it which stops it for a bit, but as soon as I delete or detach it flies around again.

I've tried contacting the creator with no response and I've had a few friends with more SL experience than me over to the apartment and they've had no luck either. So I figured I'd throw the question out here and see if anyone else has some suggestions I haven't tried yet.

Thx for the suggestion Waenhir. Unfortunately that's been tried as well. I have no modify rights to the object so I'm unable to delete anything.

there is a base object for that particle stars. it is transparent. you can go into edit mode and highlight the general area in which you have placed the object in the first place. when you see the highlighted object, you can then make sure nothing else is highlighted and delete it.

either that, go into view tab, highlight transparent object tab and all your transparent obejcts will be showned. delete and go back into view to get rid of the command.
