Some cicadas are called dog-day cicadas. These cicadas have cycles of 2 to 5 years. Suppose broods of 3-year, 4-year, and 5-year cicadas emerged in 2005. In what year would all three broods next emerge together? Explain.

You just need to take the LCM of 3,4,and 5. The question essentially means what is the first year that all three broods will have in common.
LCM = 3*4*5 = 60
[It just so happens that the LCM is simply the product of these numbers, this is because 3, 4 and 5 have no factors in common.]
So, the next time they will emerge together is 2005+60 = 2065...it's a long wait!
