Read this poem. What does it make you realize?

The Beep Beep Poem:

i should write a poem
but there's almost nothing
that hasn't been said
and said and said
beautifully, ugly, blandly
excitingly
stay in school
make love not war
death to all tyrants
where have all the flowers gone
and don't they understand at kent state
the troopers will shoot . . . again

i could write a poem
because i love walking
in the rain
and the solace of my naked
body in a tub of water
cleanliness may not be next
to godliness but it sure feels
good

i wrote a poem
for my father but it was so constant
i burned it up
he hates change
and i'm baffled by sameness

Well, Nikki, I don't know your age but it seems you have been exposed to a lot of American history.
Bringing your Dad into it tells me he is from that age of Kent State and really wants to ignore it. You, on the other hand are aware of it but I would have thought Columbine and other events like that would creep into your message.

From the poet's point of view, there is nothing ever the same. Five people see a car wreck and each has their own point of view and so you have yours.
Your inspiration is the 60s. I would like to see you tackle 2010. Yes, nothing has changed but the poet that touches our hearts can bring about the change that is needed.

Take those relaxing baths and clear your mind.
Don't get lost in the darkness.
It is always darkest
an hour before the dawn.

I wish you well.
