I got into windows XP with safe mode to try and find out why it keeps crashing. (Old HD in new computer). Used msconfig, and made some changes. It now boots directly into safe mode, and after user select screen, tells me I need windows activated, but I that I can't activate windows while in Safe mode! I tried every option under F8.

sounds like you are going to have to install windows again
and again activate it
it's a pain we know
but it's got to be done

If you get Windows Vista or Windows 7, it could resolve this problem. Try mabye pressing F2 instead of F8? I'm pretty sure that brings up a different menu. If all else fails call the computer company or Microsoft for help.

GO TO YOUR PROGRAMS AND IN THE SEARCH BOX TYPE IN
MSCONFIG AT THE TOP CLICK ON MSCONFIG THEN CLICK ALLOW
IT WILL BRING UP THE BOX TO SET IT !
