diversion program, california MIP?

I got a possession of alcohol and I am 18 years old in the state of california. I understand that my license will be suspended up to one year, but I was wondering if I got into a diversion program if I can avoid this all together? I know the diversion program will get it off of my record, but will my license still be suspended??

It will be suspended until you complete the diversion program and then you can have it reinstated.
