"I Can See Clearly Now" for father/daughter dance song?
I have been debating what song to use for my father/daughter dance at my wedding. I Can See Clearly by Johnny Nash is his favorite song. It always reminds my sister and me of him when we hear it.
I really wanted to stay away from the traditional songs, but my mother suggested Daddy's Little Girl by Al Martino and although it's traditional, I think it's also nice.
As for my father, he doesn't have a preference. What do you think?
Thanks!

Do you think the words for I Can See Clearly are ok for a father/daughter dance?

That's precious! I would so use the song that means the most to him. I'd use "I can see clearly now". It's lovely!
Yeah, I would say use that song!! It's special to him, and to you too...it's your day, so do what you want!! If you are worried about people thinking that's an odd choice, you could have your MC announce that the father-daughter dance is coming up, and maybe give a bit of info/background on why the song was chosen. Then everyone will know why it's so special :)
I can understand wanting to stay away from traditional songs but "I Can See Clearly Now"??? I would definitely stay away from that song as a father-daughter wedding song. I told my dad that I want him to pick the song we dance to at my wedding. My dad is not a very vocal person, especially with his feelings and I thought that this would be a special way for him to express his feelings towards me.
I looked up the lyrics to view more closely and I think it's sweet that it reminds you of your father but it's not a good father-daughter song. I think the song that you two share that night should tell how he feels about you as his daughter.
If it is a song that reminds you of your daddy when you hear it, then it's perfect.
My father/daughter dance song is "Two of Us" by The Beatles... it is technically about a couple, but it always reminds me of my daddy, so I am using it.
